Why? It seems discussing package pruning on distro repository servers is perfectly on topic for /tech/. What am I missing?

af9760 No.839

It looked like you just made the thread to get tech support, so I deleted it.

It's similar to the "please help me with X, it isn't working properly, does anyone know how to solve it? Also, general X thread" threads.

If you really made the thread because you wanted to discuss package pruning, and not because you wanted help with getting your package, then I apologize. If you want to create it again, please don't include anything personal and specific, so that it's clear you didn't make the thread to get help.

If you do want help with getting your package, you can ask in the /tech/ Questions and Support sticky.

you're doing a good job. it does seem like you guys could use some reinforcements

It wasn't tech support. It was discussing deletion of older packages as soon as newer packages are added.

It was not asking how to solve the problem, I clearly stated what the solution to the problem was.

I couldn't see you stating the solution to the problem, and one of the replies couldn't see it either and told you what the problem was.

But I made a mistake. Sorry.

From the OP:

>Yes, I know I'm a filthy peasant for wanting to install Cmake 3.3.0 right now and not spend several minutes not being able to complete my task only to needlessly upgrade my whole system

>upgrade my whole system

This guy gets it:

>OP's right though, he needs to upgrade his system.

But the underlying problem wasn't a technical problem, and there was no technical solution. So it had nothing to do with technical support.

I know I was wrong. I was just explaining my mistake.

Don't worry, I have no hard feelings, I'm glad it could be cleared up, one of the reasons why staying at halfchan was not an option.
