* was unhappy that the "IM A FEMALE REDDITOR" thread was not deleted

* was happy that "what's the best linux distro for feminists" got removed

* routergate

c49f45 No.973

>>972

"routergate" was explained multiple times in the thread, it was auto pruned and the feature was turned off afterward

58e15e No.974

>>972

>routergate

As I've said, that thread was autopruned by the Early 404 system. I've since disabled that since then.

c49f45 No.975

When are we going to start banning tech things that trigger me?

d84c26 No.976

>>975

yes its totally about people being "triggered".. it's not spam/trolling/shitposting/bait at all. It totally isn't ruining the board.

I dont know what youre talking about but I want people who talk about free software banned so

c49f45 No.979

>>977

it could have a proper sort of home page linking to everything tech including the meta board

c49f45 No.980

>>977

also who owns this domain?

eca8a3 No.981

>>980

I do (one of the volunteers).

Sounds pretty cool. /k/ has murdercube.com and it's pretty based; definitely has one of those "motherfuckingwebsite.com" type things going on.

Hey, can we get

>>>/tech/378187

stickied? The project is actually happening and it'd be nice to get people involved in building up the community around the namespace. It's not a logo, or an operating system, and as a result we're making good progress on getting everything set up.

58e15e No.984

>>983

Sure! Could leave it up for a few days.

6aba4b No.985

No complaints, really. There's been some cancer and cringe self-congratulatory circlejerking leaking from somewhere instead of discussing technology, but nothing really that absolutely should be moderated.

Keep up the good work.

303dfc No.989

What's wrong with /tech/ as of lately? There has been a huge rise in shitty threads with extremely minimal OPs, like the "why u seed? xD" thread, the "post powershell script xD" or the "gais help me make a browser xD" one.

I remember old /tech/ threads having a small paragraph as the OP, but now threads are being reduced to a single sentence. This usually wouldn't be bad if it wasn't because these threads are usually fucking shit. It looks like some dedicated shitposter is mass producing them to fill the board with shit that can't be deleted because it's technically not against the ruurs.

eca8a3 No.990

>>989

Here's an old snapshot of /tech/:

https://archive.is/ldb93

It seems about the same to me. The reason you're remembering it differently is that opening posts with paragraphs are more memorable.

ffdb6b No.999

What is it like to moderate /tech/? How much time gets spent to it? What is the fun/work ratio?

/tech/ is shit. Moderate the garbage, ban the plague. The board needs an exterminatus.

Don't make me go through the catalog

Janitor here, a couple things:

>CP

1. Nice job posting the CP ad, considering youre not advertising it obviously and its just a picture of a chest I wont report you or anything (just FYI)

2. We cant ban people posting the CP. or rather, we shouldnt. This is illegal content, if WE ban them they only get a board ban not a site wide ban, and if we delete the post the IP is lost forever, the best we can do is spoiler it and global report it, waiting for someone on the next level to delete it

>Posting quality

This has been something that I, as a user of the board since the exodus, have also seen a decline in, its not that the majority of the user base has changed to shit posters, its that people will start a lot of bait threads and see which ones take. The thing is the definition for shitposting on /tech/ currently is set so that it has to be so blatently off topic they were trying. People who do these mass spam bait threads often use tor and that means even if we are able to delete the thread for shitposting obviously we cant ban them. The best thing is even if its a personal support thread for instance, if we dont catch it in time and a discussion forms in the thread I am hesitant to delete the thread because what will happen is 5 more threads will be made spouting that the board is dictated by "Rule cucks", a lot of people on 8chan (obviously) hate being censored in anyway, yes, deleting shitposts in by definition censorship.

When I started I would give people 1 minute bans to let them know what they did wrong (thats the smallest I can give). Within a week people were complaining that the moderators were too strict

>>964

for example

and its not just a few people, there was a poll a couple months back that asked if we should be making the rules more strict and it was an overwhelming no

yes, I am completely aware that its extreamly easy to rig a poll.

Rules are hard, and obviously this community wants a lot of freedom for discussion, that makes it even harder.

If you would like to try your hand at coming up with rules to combat what you believe is shitposting and it can stand the test of time what I could not reccomend more is going on the #/tech/ IRC and talking to guy9000, the owner of the board.

>email field

woops!

1bbfbf No.1005

>>1003

surely "don't post what a rational person would call "garbage" or "nonsense"" is a legitimate rule

it's a catch-all for shit threads and shiver bait

6aba4b No.1007

>>1003

Do you think anyone actually gives a fuck what /int*/ manchildren think? They're a laughingstock. They've been shitting up the top boards since before January of last year with their retarded raids. They're worse than rugga and co, a bunch of shitposters that intend to do this for the rest of their natural lives, or at least until they're forced to move out into their own apartment and get a job after mommy and daddy either die or kick them out.

Fundamentally there's no way to fix the bait thread problem other than not having a userbase of morons. Guess we'll just have to live with shit because people can't help themselves, wouldn't want to trample on FREE SPEECH even though they fundamentally can't put any effort into it, posting the same shit bait every time and samefagging the thread.

And there's no way to fix the retards who post the same shit: they're autistic and it soothes their autism to have the same thread over and over again. It's much like battlestation threads, it's a comfortable thing for them to post their pasta or a variation on it with their associated image and rack up replies.

>freedom for discussion

What 'discussion' is had in the same fucking bait threads we've seen over and over for years? It's just newfaggots replying to garbage, giving their retarded 2 cents because presumably they've never seen the thread before.
