Description : ChaosEsqueAnthology is a completely libre First Person Shooter game with many maps, weapons, and vehicles
ChaosEsque Anthology is a first person shooter. It is a standalone modification of Xonotic which includes extended weapons, maps, vehicles, buildable buildings, mounted weapons, spell casting, monsters, player characters, textures, and game modes.
It has over 100 maps. Some are futuristic, some are ancient, and some are medieval. A few evoke platform games such as sonic, others follow a style more akin to diablo. Some are static maps, others are randomly connected.
There is something to fit your mood. There are mutators that can add mounted weapons in any map, buildings, monsters, foliage, hazards, and even balloons and bumpers. You can fight with futuristic weapons, medieval weapons, and /or hand to hand combat (90 weapons). There are also many vehicles (and a mutator to spawn them in maps that do not have them, as is tradition (as you can see)).
You can also set each team to start with different specific weapons if you want to test a theory that you could defeat a well equipped military force with your bolt action rifle or crossbow. Same with vehicles and mounted weapons spawning (you can set which spawn near which team in CTF etc). You can drink wine, potions, learn magic, read scrolls, so on and so forth.
The goal, and much of this has been reached, is to not limit the player.

This board's main draws, starting out, were that it was more easygoing than 4chan /v/, that you could even post porn, that it was more lenient with regard to posting, and that you could talk about Gamergate.
A year later:
Threads are being autosaged and deleted, ostensibly because they have porn in them. Also, the porn itself is, on occasion, being deleted. Gamergate discussion is restricted to, basically, a general, and people have developed contrarian sentiments against it. People also yell "degenerate" at everything and complain about "not vidya".
The effect of this is to turn a fun, promising board into "slower /v/ but you can call people niggers and degenerates more often than you can on 4chan". If that is what you are going for, please tell me and I will take note of it.
In any other case: Three of these things are arguably not your fault. The Gamergate general thing seems like a reasonable move, and you don't really have any control over buzzwords, because of the whole "free speech" thing. That leaves the first issue. Please stop abusing the autosage function.

Welp, I noticed this awhile back but I didn't actually attempt to talk this out since I was busy IRL.
However, assuming valve went apeshit retarded and started to make mods profitable, the subject regarding modding and the mod community has raised flags, and since /vm/ was already on the "vidya related" header as a promotion, I won't lie, it did give the board a decent amount of publicity but it didn't seem interesting enough awhile back so i'm assuming that it was later removed because the board just didn't seem promising enough (or was viewed as complete shit by the newer mods), and of course, i'm a terrible person when it comes to promoting a board. I just don't know how that shit works.
Anyways, Mark or whoever's running /v/ to its full glory, if you can, Help raise the modfags on 8chan once more, if you could squeeze in the modding board again that would be rad fucking great, especially now since the valve/steam drama discussion is skyrocketing.

I have a proposal for a rule that would eradicate a vast majority of the cancer on /v/.
It's simple: Ban anyone who posts just to try to get dubs in a thread, but doesn't sage.
Exceptions should be in threads made specifically for GETs, but outside of that, there are a staggering number of people who make posts like "check em" and "check my dubs" yet instead of derailing/killing threads they are bumping them and keeping them alive.
Most of the time, if you tell these people "you forgot your sage", they'll say something like ">not bumping a dubs thread". So, the only way to get rid of this cancer is to ban these people.
I implore you to do this, because I strongly believe that most of the cancer on /v/ would be swept away if this were to be enforced.

Okay so there's a monster hunter thread. The monster hunter thread gets to post 300 and starts auto saging. Said thread gets all the way to page 15 (the okay to make a new thread).
New thread gets made, then gets deleted despite being within the rules of either 700 posts or page 15.

Suggestion to remove the negative effects of sagebombing and shitposting.
The board is going to shit.It's because asshole who want to take it into their own hands to moderate the board instead of letting moderators do it. I've wanted to report countless assholes who pop into the thread to not even have a pretense of starting a conversation and just shitting on the thread with sage or dubs posting and I can't report them because they're not breaking any rules.
I've had many fine thread interrupted because some asshole didn't like what was being said or didn't like what the OP was saying so he decided to take it into his hands to moderate the board and try and get the thread removed as fast as possible because it offended him in some way.
If you're not going to fucking ban this then you need to at least fucking take precautions against it.
I suggest simply this.
Make saged post not count towards the bump limit. This will remove dumbasses who like to use sage as a downvote. If their post doesn't count towards the final bump limit then that means that the post they took up wont take up valuable posts that others could use to actually talk about the topic.
The second suggestion is make off topic a bannable offense. If your post has nothing what so fucking ever to do with either the OP, what other anon's are talking about, or video games, if the post literally only says something extremely condescending and purely made to aggravate then it needs to at least be deleted.
The third suggestion is more to reduce the number of people replying to the posts upon entering the thread and make shitposters who use sage as a downvote less visible. It's simply, auto-hide all saged posts upon entering the thread. Sage is meant to be used when your post is off topic, it's meant to give leeway for anon's who don't always post on topic, such as asking for source or mentioning a game that isn't a part of the topic at hand, or even helping another anon out. So a majority of other people won't need or care to see the posts anyway. If they're hidden they can easily be unhidden as well for anyone who actually wants to see them. This way you can also cut down on the idiots who just jump into a thread purely because they saw dubs as well.
You could easily just ban dubs posting, sage bombing, and posters trying to act in place of a mod, but I know Mark's feelings towards dubs, so thats likely not going to happen. But could you at least make it easier on the posters who actually want to talk about video games?

Why are the volunteers letting /v/ get shittier and shittier? I've noticed this pattern over weeks now and the breaking point recently was moot leaving 4chan which caused a surge in posting here but also a giant drop in quality. Are the volunteers afraid of fucking offending people by putting in some quality control? Do the volunteers actually believe in that "muh culture" shit when one of the points of being anonymous is to have no culture to latch to? I don't get it. Will another /v/ have to be made?
How do we improve post quality?
Almost every thread I'm seeing has responses that make me angry. Sage bombing, dubs derailing, complaining about people posting anime reaction images, people complaining about /pol/, people complaining about things being not vidya enough, people complaining about giving things attention, basically all threads have devolved into complaints and forum sliding with no real discussion going on.
Also the posts per hour increased by a couple hundred today so it's only gotten worse.
What's the solution?

Since it is unavoidable due to the increasing number of newfags and incoming halfchan cancer , we are eventually we gonna have to deal with this shit so here's my suggestion ; either give it the gamergate treatment which means only one active e-celeb thread at a time or take a page out of the gamergate book when their board was overflooded with e-celeb bullshit and create a sticky where anyone who wants to cream their panties over a youtuber or other celeb can do soThe board is about videogames first and foremost

Can you please step up your banning of dubs spammers or other thread flooders? It seems like almost every other thread I go to is filled with a dubs spammer because they feel entitled to determine if a thread is good or bad. It's constant and the board is becoming pretty unusable because of this shit. Please step it up. Dubs spam is not free speech.I report the shit out of it and nothing ever gets done. I've noticed that moderators are banning me, and probably others too, for posting dubs. This was allowed back in September and before 2015, but now, it seems mods are cracking down on it more. Why?
Now, of course, let me explain my position. You're instantly thinking "but dubs are cancer". But in reality, they're not.
Dubs posting, when with a sage, is a way of cleansing cancer. If enough people in a community are just posting about dubs instead of bumping a thread, then the thread dies. Any topic of merit would be destroyed in this manner, while topics that people actually want to discuss would still survive and carry on. This is why dubs are important. When done properly, they're really a form of voting to keep a topic on the front page or not.
You might be thinking, "but anything not pertaining to vidya is cancer", and I agree with that if the thread is not about a videogame. HOWEVER, videogame discussion can be cancer too. We don't need threads praising bioware, we don't need threads about Origin and EA because people before the third exodus (who still make up most of the community, luckily) mostly agree that they are bad. We don't need discussion about Life is Strange from some anon acting like he just discovered it because it gives it publicity and because we've already circlejerked over how terrible it is.
The thing about dubs posting/saging in this situation is that it does what moderators can't: Moderators can't ban people for being "newfags" or "posting the same thread we saw today already", but if people agree that the topic does not merit discussion, then sage + dubs will keep it down.
I propose a few conditions for dubs posting:
1. Anyone who posts for dubs without saging gets banned, because that defeats the point of dubs posting.
2. Anyone who dubs posts more than twice in a row (e.g. more than 2 posts from one ID) gets banned. I never do this because to me, that's a universal rule on any forum of discussion. Usually I only post twice in a row in order to correct any spelling mistake I made in the last post, or to check a sweet GET I overlooked.

Officially turning /v/ into a democracy.
I really am not liking this small shift in rules and mentality, taking place among the board owners.The slightly authoritarian nature of this change is really giving me a halfchan vibe and making me wonder if things won't, eventually, slowly slide down the same path.
I feel the need to remind the owners that heavy moderation with none-to-little community input is a large part of why we left old /v/.
Let's be real. Moderated/guided posting never works. Cuckchan is living proof, that you can never make posters start posting the way you WANT them to, or make them talk about things YOU want them to talk about.
No matter how much you ban or restrict their posting resources, real communities will never meet an idealistic vision of how a community should look.
So I propose, for the well-being of the board, the following:
Direct democracy in regards to changes in policy.
The life of this board comes from the community. Period.
Thus the community should always decide any proposed changes in regards to posting and policy from the biggest to the smallest.
Be it banning topic X or making gifs autoplay, a democratic vote should be always held, since the people that these decisions affect are first and foremost the posters.
The vote.
Any proposal made by the volunteers should consist of a stickied post with a poll and should require at least 50% of the active board population's votes, before any decision can be made.
I must remind the owners that being a large board means nothing once the board community hates you.
/gg/ was one of the largest boards on this site and, still, in a few short days became almost barren, deserted.
Making an alternate /v/ is far from hard work and there already are quite a few boards that would be more than willing to host /v/'s community.
Thus, in conclusion, board owners please think about what I have said, make /v/ a democracy and, please give me, and any Anons that might have had similar feeling an answer.

They're not special anymore.Every faggot from 4chan who came over has been spamming "let's make this a dubs thread" in almost every thread non-stop because it was banned on 4/v/.
