Stickied thread on /v/ says to suggest links to video game boards in the announcement section here on /metav/.
You should consider making this thread stickied so people can come here and make their suggestions in a single thread.
I'll make my own suggestion in the next post.

I would appreciate a link to
>>>/cs/ up there when you can.
I claimed the /cs/ board for Counter-Strike discussion a while back. All CS games can be discussed there, but CS:GO is the popular one at the moment so the board is a bit dominated by it right now.
Since adopting it I managed to get a little bit of activity going in it, I'm sure a link in the announcements would help send a little more there.
I don't expect it to ever be a fast board, more of a board that you bookmark and check once a day to see who replied to you.

I would like a link to
>>>/civ/ too please, its our local discussion board for a group of channers playing a particular minecraft server called Civcraft which pits groups of players to fend for themselves and create a thriving civilisation with no admin intervention apart from cheating and doxxing.

>>2593>>2588>>2587Good boards. We're looking for boards with owners who are proactive about growing and not just waiting for 8chan to get bigger.
I'll be sure to add these boards whenever the boards list rotates again, in a week or two.

>>2594>good boards>Boards with such shitty, specific topics and small post counts that they don't even staff a 24/7 thread>Entire BOARDSThat's fucking stupid, this is what /vg/ is for. You're all fucking stupid.

>>2594look forward to it, getting featured as a board of the week brought in a lot of traffic. that's sure to help even more since hardly anyone looks at 8chan's homepage at all.
cd6121 No.2597
>>2595nah that's okay, /you/ can go to /vg/ and share a single sporadic shitty thread talking about dozens of topics at once with poor moderation because the mods of /vg/ obviously can't be expected to understand every single game that's posted about on that board. we have the power to make boards to house a hundred threads and discuss the game(s) extensively at our leisure with dedicated mods that can recognize subtle bait.
/vg/ wouldn't even be a thing if moot wasn't a retard and gave us this power years ago like he should have, I hope you realize that.

>>2597>>2598>Implying I'm the /vg/ owner>Implying your tiny amount of content spread out across an entire board will stay aliveSee both of these are wrong, faggot. I'd never be stupid enough to make an entire board for a single game. I rarely use /vg/, either, but only the MMOs really have enough content to keep a fairly active thread, and even then splitting that into twenty threads would kill it.
There is no point in shilling tiny ultra slow individual game boards on /v/.
>Waah waah I want more moderation, so I created an entire board just so I could be a mod and dictate what people can and can't doNah, faggots. Nah. If I want to talk about roguelikes, I don't want to be forced to some shit empty dead board that has less traffic than a single thread on /v/ would.
There's no point to this shit, mods. Don't shill for dead boards.

>>>/ovg/ when it rolls around.
I just claimed the board after it having weeks of inactivity and while it had a huge presence on halfchan, it sadly does not have a large presence on doublechan and the halfchan version fell to influence of the legbeards.
It's a board dedicated to racing and nonracing games with vehicles in them. At the height of halfchan's version, there were a ton of discussions about shit like Burnout and F12013 to name a few more well known games. Hop in, you might find a game you like
when it gets active again and be able to compete with others
when it gets active again as well.
149ed7 No.2629
>>2627See fags, this is something that might do well as a board. If we had 10x as much traffic as we do now.
It's not just "VIDEOGAMES, SPECIFIC GENRE" which has no reason to move it's something where shit from crazy taxi to /o/-tier autism can collide.
c47385 No.2630
>>2629Unlike the halfchan counterpart, I plan to be more lax involving auto games. For example Kart games were heavily frowned on whereas I don't consider them as problematic as they do.
That's the magic about it, or at least the magic it had. You could get 52 people to show up for a Saturday race for bragging rights with their friends in autism levels of detail to sitting down, playing Burnout and not giving a flying fuck. While 8chan is small, I would love to see an active community here safe from the hands of the hot pockets.

>>>/gsg/ here, it would be great if we could get a link up.
I know 8chan has a sizeable grand strategy-playing population, and I've tried to shill for /gsg/ in threads before, but every time to response is just 'lol ded board.' Well, the fact of the matter is, the board isn't dead, just no one posts any content. What I mean by that is, there's a bunch of lurkers, but nobody really ever makes any actual posts, giving the impression nobody goes on when in reality that isn't the case. An official endorsement on /v/ would be a great way to let grand strategy fans know the board is alive and well, and get some actual discussion happening.
/gsg/ over on halfchan was and is one of the fastest-moving generals, and it'd be great if we could get our own grand strategy community going. And thanks to actually having moderation, the horrible shitposting that's common on halfchan /gsg/ is no longer possible.

Hey /v/, I was wondering if you could announce "
>>>/vm/ - Videogame Modding " Along with the other recommended boards
Would appreciate if we had more people sharing their creativity in games by sharing their vidya mods on /vm/, and that can only be achieved if /v/ acknowledges its existence I guess.

I had to accidently post this 4 times as my VPN went apeshit, should be good now.
5d3637 No.4653
In all seriousness, all these boards are a bad idea. This place doesn't even get enough traffic to warrant a /vg/, let alone a bunch of subreddits for every little thing. This segregation of such a small community will hurt it in the long run. Either by killing the community or turning it into a hugbox.
Being able to make our own boards is good because it takes power away from mods and gives it to the posters and when a topic calls for it, it can get it's own board fast. But if it's vidya, it should go on /v/ unless it becomes so huge that it demands a new board.
bd2f82 No.4654
>>4648Nah, if you know the board owner he's not doing much in the way of advertising at the moment. Just riding the waves. I don't even know his name.
>>4653Maybe if Mark and his mods were able to step up to the plate and offer better moderation for threads, people wouldn't be wanting to go to different boards for their interests. You speak as if your opinions are fact.
c8fd6d No.4656
>>4653I think you're right about one thing in particular, which is the existence of boards talking specifically about one thing that could essentially exist in one thread on /v/. its like someone creates a board about Metal Gear Solid, it has a lot of touchy subjects and I guess some people might call the game itself very deep in the lore stuff, But To be honest, One thread with several large tl;dr posts can summarize everything about that game and you'll most likely be done with it. So generally speaking, that particular situation wouldn't require a board (IMO).
But, When it comes to complicated shit like creating your own games, Talking about modelling and coding or discussing game development or handing out tutorials on how to do things involving that particular subject, in this case, I'm referencing /agdg/, They have the right to exist because the means of that subject is complicated enough to expand in numerous threads to the point in which it deserves its own board/category.
I for one created a similar thing but with the intention of modding/altering/ existing games, The reason behind this is so that people would share their mods without the fear of getting banned (like in nexus or many other mod sharing communities) for posting some nazi uniform skin mod for a game that already exists. of course I wouldn't want dozens of people constantly posting on the board but I wouldn't want it to be dead either, the intention is very clear, that when it comes to board like these, they cannot support the idea of being constantly active as dedicated threads with dozens of links to downloads, textures, and other information would not be lost due to getting 404'd because of so many activities on the board aka new threads being created and old ones getting deleted, which is something that happens very often on /v/ because its a fairly active board.
