314bae No.2865

I really am not liking this small shift in rules and mentality, taking place among the board owners.

The slightly authoritarian nature of this change is really giving me a halfchan vibe and making me wonder if things won't, eventually, slowly slide down the same path.
I feel the need to remind the owners that heavy moderation with none-to-little community input is a large part of why we left old /v/.
Let's be real. Moderated/guided posting never works. Cuckchan is living proof, that you can never make posters start posting the way you WANT them to, or make them talk about things YOU want them to talk about.
No matter how much you ban or restrict their posting resources, real communities will never meet an idealistic vision of how a community should look.

So I propose, for the well-being of the board, the following:
Direct democracy in regards to changes in policy.
The life of this board comes from the community. Period.
Thus the community should always decide any proposed changes in regards to posting and policy from the biggest to the smallest.
Be it banning topic X or making gifs autoplay, a democratic vote should be always held, since the people that these decisions affect are first and foremost the posters.
The vote.
Any proposal made by the volunteers should consist of a stickied post with a poll and should require at least 50% of the active board population's votes, before any decision can be made.

I must remind the owners that being a large board means nothing once the board community hates you.
/gg/ was one of the largest boards on this site and, still, in a few short days became almost barren, deserted.
Making an alternate /v/ is far from hard work and there already are quite a few boards that would be more than willing to host /v/'s community.

Thus, in conclusion, board owners please think about what I have said, make /v/ a democracy and, please give me, and any Anons that might have had similar feeling an answer.

>DL;DR:Let Anons vote what changes on /v/ are made, so we don't ever slide into being cuckchan /v/.

So you're upset that they added a rule about not remaking threads the second they hit bump limit?

314bae No.2871

I'm not "upset", I'm just concerned and feel there's an issue that needs to be addressing.
I'm quite disappointed that the vols are distancing /v/ from GamerGate.
I mean two entire rules dedicated to "no doxxing" and "no raiding".

What does that even mean?
Does /v/ have a history of doxing and raiding? Is /v/ /b/?
Does GamerGate, and I mean the real one, have an actual history of doxing and raiding? Is GamerGate /baphomet/? No!
So what's the point of having 2 out of your only 9 rules, be so apparently arbitrary. I mean it's like they had an entire rule, for no talking about guns or posting pictures of Mohammet.
Like why? I can not help but feel that this is, for lack of of a less stronger word, slightly anti-gamergate, in the sense of wanting to slow down it's momentum.

And then what you said.
Why can there only be a single thread? Are GamerGate threads REALLY bothering the people on /v/? Is it bothering anyone, for that matter?
I mean like, what's so different from December 2014 to February 2015 that would warrant this change?

Those rules haven't changed since the board went up

99bacd No.2873

dude i wrote the fucking rules on gamergate four months ago and they haven't changed and they're not going to change.

The whole point of banning doxxing/raiding/etc is so that we could ban&delete false flaggers, dipshit.

>Why can there only be a single thread?

Why does there need to be more?

>I'm quite disappointed that the vols are distancing /v/ from GamerGate.
/v/ is not gamergate and gamergate is not /v/.

>Does /v/ have a history of doxing and raiding? Is /v/ /b/?

we get twitch raid threads about once per day. we also get false flagging ghazifags dumping dox on gamergate general threads pretty often.

>Why can there only be a single thread? Are GamerGate threads REALLY bothering the people on /v/? Is it bothering anyone, for that matter?

because you have an entire fucking board to organize and plan shit. gamergate gets one thread just like every other game/topic gets one thread, so people who aren't interested can hide it.

>I mean like, what's so different from December 2014 to February 2015 that would warrant this change?

this change has nothing to do with gamergate generals. it has to do with other generals/reoccuring threads that aren't as disciplined as gamergate, making threads the moment they hit 300 posts, like "webm thread" and "ss13 general". 6.1 isn't a rule change, it's a clarification of what constitutes as a redundant thread.

you've stretched very far to interpret the rules as some kind of attack vs gamergays.

meant to say "this rule" instead of "this change"

I haven't fired any bullet yet, just using my tinfoil hat.

Well you guys haven't messed up yet, so I guess you're right, it's just the tinfoil talking.

Also the suggestion about decisions being made democraticly hasn't been mentioned.

Rude as they may be, still thanks for your replies!

You do realize that 4channers have the same authority as we do when it becomes a democracy?

You're putting too much faith in people that most likely don't know shit.

>Total democracy
Tyranny of the majority is shit, fuck off you imbecile. No, allowing faggots and casuals to flood the board and rule whatever bullshit they want is NOT OK.

Fuck yourself and die.

Also, pinko is a commie shit that hates dubs, but the rest of the mods are fine. I don't even know why a fag that would call /gg/ gamergays is on the mod team though.

Hey pink, fuck you.

Those shitty "post it every thread" forced memes were literally just trophies used to mock SJW shills trying to derail threads. It was disgusting watching them try to derail threads constantly with "poster below this is a SPIDER" etc. shit.

They stopped being funny a long time ago, and entered "stop forcing it, cunt" status.

It's a neckbeard, anime imageboard, bro, chill down.
Democracy works. Maybe you disagree when it comes to running a state, but think multiplayer games, when the moment to pick a new map comes, how should the map be chosen?
Should the admins chose it, and piss people off?
Or should the players, the people who you know, actually play, chose it?
I see the same thing with running /v/.

967428 No.2916

>>2914
Democracy works even less on an anonymous imageboard than in a state. Then you invite people to just flood shit with numbers. SJWs could just botspam until "check your privilege" "no racism" "no sexism" "no criticizing bioware" etc were rules.

314bae No.2917

>>2916
I think you could tell when there would be a botspam, the same for any dramatic shift in board culture.

>Democracy works.

I'm not a fan of authoritarianism on 8chan boards (because it's easy to fuck up), but some rules should be forced in order to avoid outside influence. Remember /q/ on halfchan and how SRS tried to get /pol/ banned by complaining constantly?

Also, this is 8chan. We can create our own boards. As soon as the mods start acting like faggots people will just create an another board and migrate there (something similar happened already with /gg/ and /gamergate/).

99bacd No.2957

>>2946
imo he /v/ moderation isn't actually fascist, because there isn't a single ruler that gets a final say, and any decision made by the mods can be repealed by the people for the good of the board.

Really, we're closer to nationalist socialism.

4afab2 No.2966

>>2874

Have the SS13 threads really become that problematic? Why didn't one of you come in the threads to tell us to stop putting up new ones once they hit the bump limit? Part of the point of doing that was to try and get more people interested in joining the Infinitystation server that our serverfag set up, but, if I remember correctly, we agreed to move the threads elsewhere if they got too much like "generals" and if the mods had an issue with it.

ef350d No.3074

>>2966
No. But from an advertising perspective this will actually make more people come to the thread. If it disappears for a while after the bumplimit and then later on after 700 posts the new thread hits the front page..

It'll be good
