The problem with what you're saying is that the volunteers have no real control over what gets posted. It's really up to the posters as to what content gets posted, and people like Mark and Hotwheels have said that they could delete more posts but it won't do anything to positively change how the boards function.

While I agree that more posts being made that do not contain videogames, and that there is a problem. I strongly oppose any volunteer/janitor/moderator/administrator action.

Since OP seems to blissfully forget the fact that main reason for the first exodus from 4chan was that corrupt moderators took it upon themselves to delete any gamergate threads because people were getting doxxed and completely ignored any socjus shilling because we're too understaffed guys ): Simply put, the bitching made it so that moderation could be done in any the people in power saw fit.

So while OP can bitch about history repeating itself, the irony is that threads like these are more likely to contribute to that then any hentai game general ever will.

So what can be done about off topic posting? Simple: IGNORE ANY THREAD OR POSTS YOU DO NOT LIKE. Sure even I get annoyed when I make a vidya related thread and it only gets 5 posts. But you should just take that as a learning experience and try making a thread at a different time, perhaps even with a different input.

Tldr: No, we don't need more moderation. Moderators should stick to deleting actual illegal content and stay the fuck away from whatever political statement the userbase wants to make for the week.

I remember halfchan /v/ back in 2005. Basically everything was video games. Even if it went off topic, it would still be in the guise of video games. Almost exclusively video game reaction images.
