I wanted to ask what you folks here thought of making it a bannable offense to sagebomb a thread or shitposting "shills, hurr don't talk about this" when a good deal of people have begun serious talk over a subject. I saw this in Protomen threads and I most recently saw this in the Killing Floor 2 thread, where about 75% of the posts are in regards to the game in some degree, and people who want to discuss it, but thanks to the dedicated efforts of one guy who saged the thread 17 times, also drawing users into his argument, and a few other people who saged once or twice, the discussion of the actual game has all but stopped. I'm sick of wannabe mods on /v/ who like to pretend they're the arbiter of content on the catalog and shitpost accordingly.
How do we deal with them?

When it's one guy, just filter+ his posts and then post something worth talking about. "derails" usually happen when the original topic isn't that interesting. If a thread is shitty, bring some fresh content in.

I honestly suggest looking to the Killing Floor 2 thread, because it has been derailed into discussion of Tripwire's president by the sagebombers, and I feel like most people now discussing that subject have been baited into it by inflammatory posts. Is it worth noting? Hell yes, shit like that CAN be a red flag for a game, but it's been a circular argument for about 100 posts or so now.
