In the case of this particular thread, I don't think anyone even likes the game that much. These people are just obsessed with having a hug box. It's been affecting a huge number of threads lately and I don't know why.

This really depends on the video game thread. If it's some innocuous game or a game that most of /v/ hates (LoL for example), but there are people actively using it, then dubs are unquestionably spam, but if it's something like a Gone Home thread that's just been made, or another newer game that everyone seems to hate, then let them go wild. The latter is funposting and should be untouched to a lenient degree.

I feel like some shitposters are just deliberately doing it for the sake of getting away with it instead of incorporating it into the thread's flow or topic.

That way if push comes to shove, sliding a shit thread like an obvious marketing thread with dubs is less likely to happen because users who use dubs to bomb that thread relate it back to how they saw a good thread get shat on by dubs.

I fail to see a major problem with dubs. If it's just two people trying to get dubs constantly, then that's spamming and against the rules, and the thread would keep flowing as usual as long there's an actual discussion taking place. If it's a large amount of people trying to get dubs rather than discussing, then it was most likely a shit thread.

I've seen posters who ONLY ever post dubs shit in every single thread they're in. They seek it out or start it.
