Guys am I the only one who did not liked MGS5 at all?
Tried it a few months ago and it ended up uninstalled almost immediately.
The controls were fucking weird, like pressing the analog stick in order to perform a side roll or shit like the weapon selection menu that didn't made any sense. Many other gameplay choices felt really offputting like the bloody screen so real healing system and the press Y to heal faggotry, not to mention the unnecessary slow mo time upon enemy spotting which I'm sure all of the long time fans disabled immediately, and the list goes on.
Not sure why people only keeps bitching about the length of this game while it has way too many other problems.
Hopefully phantom pain wont end up like this clusterfuck.

I only played the PC version and I thought the controls were great, way better than any other console port. The only annoying part is the interrogation menu and that's alright too after getting used to it.
I am alright with the slow-mo stuff, it's a good indicator for when to restart the mission: "oh shit slowmo, better restart the mission". It takes away a lot of the score points so you have to restart anyway, otherwise you can just turn it off.
The new engine is awesome, the physics are great and the looks are just amazing. I even like the bullet drop mechanics.
So yeah, I liked it a lot. Played it twice to 100%.

I agree with all of your complaints but I still liked it.

Film burn effect dint bother me.

>>396>Tried it a few months ago and it ended up uninstalled almost immediately. So you tried it for like ten minutes before giving up? You're pretty stupid.
>The controls were fucking weird, like pressing the analog stick in order to perform a side rollThis move is in MGS4 as well. Overall GZ is way smoother than MGS4, especially the prone/crouch system.
>bloody screen so real healing system and the press Y to heal faggotry, not to mention the unnecessary slow mo time upon enemy spotting Play it on hard, disable the shit you don't like. It's like you're intentionally ruining your experience of the game.
What a faggot.

All of your complaints are valid, but they didn't bother me enough to ruin the game for me. Though I really do hope they get rid of the healing mechanic Phantom Pain, I want my health bar and rations back.
No.420
I have played the game a lot and I must say there are some cheap tactics that genuinely annoy me because they make the game too easy.
Like the "Get Down!" option when sneaking behind guards with readied gun, not wasting any ammunition or making any sound. It kinda makes CQC absolutely pointless and no-gun mode too easy.
Or the magazines that you can throw endlessly to get a guard to ignore you entirely. You should only have 5 or so of those and respectively new ones after emptying full magazines.
Also throwing someone off a cliff should count as kill, just like actively shooting red barrels next to a guard should not count as "environmental death".
No.422
>>420>Like the "Get Down!" option when sneaking behind guards with readied gunNo-kill/Stealth trials would be awful without this, just constant grabbing and choking of guys. But yes, it is kind of a cheap mechanic in general though.
No.453
>>420the drawback for "get down" is that they get up immediately if there's an alert. CQC also doesn't make any sound or require ammo.
>magazinesyou had a ton of these in other MGS games too.
No.454
>>453>the drawback for "get down" is that they get up immediately if there's an alert.Only if you start a combat alert, normal alerts have no effect. And if you fuck up that much, then you will have to restart the mission anyway.
They stay down indefinitely compared to the few minutes that you get from tranquilizer or stun. Only the CQC combos are comparable and those takes way more time and you are way more visible. There is no reason to use anything else unless you have to carry the body somewhere and you can just knock him out for that time and wake him up again afterwards. It's really the best way to neutralize an enemy.

Is it just me or is the AI too unobservant on Easy and way too alert on Hard?
No.505
>>396My biggest gripe with the game is the fucking camera. It pulls in close when you crouch, WHICH IS HOW YOU'RE GONNA SPEND THE MOST OF THE GAME. So there's Big Boss' ass taking up 1/4 of the display but god forbid you decide to crawl, then the camera pulls in even closer and now you can't see ANYTHING. Peeking is also broken especially when Boss refuses to peek OVER the obstacle (especially in search towers). The moment when they decided to put the 'reposition camera' button in the game should've been the moment they figure out that the camera system is broken. It's worse than Portable Ops sometimes.
I was honestly going to disable all HUD helpers but they are really handy when you don't have enemy patrols memorised. When the areas are so big and dudes can see you from so far away all the markings and chevrons come in handy.
Hold-ups are almost as gamebreaking as in Peace Walker, at least in GZ you have to tell them to get down AND not bump into them when they're doing it. With the new Cardboard Box in TPP it's going to be even more broken, because you can just walk around, stand still when someone's looking at you and hold everyone up like a motherfucker.
At least they've heavily nerfed the tranq pistol. It's really fucking hard to get a headshot at distance (the aiming reticules are useless) and dudes will get helmets in TPP.
No.515
>>505I find that aiming actually helps for peeking around most corners (like in the tents).
The camera and cover system is bad though.

I think they will make up for all the ways to take out enemies by adding special enemy types, like the guys with helms or the armored guys and probably other things they haven't shown yet.

Do you guys think trials with online leaderboards will be back in TPP?

>>516true, not to mention you can't stick up wolves or tigers. and wolves are confirmed.

I hope so, but it's probably too much effort to add a million trials to every mission of the game.

>>553I hope so, I am still mad about no guard dogs in GZ even though they show some in the Skullface cutscene in the beginning.

>Everyone in this thread forgetting one important thing
Why the hell did they remove the knocking mechanism? Ridiculous, it has been a series staple since the first MGS game, what good was it to remove it?
No.1185
>>1183It's back in TPP you can do some knocking sound with your prosthesis.
No.1186
>>1185Ah, that's good know. Wonder why they removed it in the first place. Hope they fix aiming with the tranq and the peak mechanism too.
I'd like the regenerative health thing to be removed too, doesn't feel right at all.
No.1187
>>1186Yeah, GZ was rushed in many regards. The projectile drop of the tranq gun is intended, or what do you mean?
>I'd like the regenerative health thing to be removed too, doesn't feel right at all.I'd love to have a food-stamina system like in mgs 3 but I don't think that's gonna happen. Well, there will probably be a mod for it on PC.
No.1189
>>1187Got the game last friday on PS3 and I have been finding it pretty difficult to get headshots with the tranq unlike previous games. Was that made intentionally?
There doesn't seem much sense in implementing the food-stamina system in TPP though. The Health-Psyche system in MGS4 and PW worked well enough so I don't know why they could't add them back in.
No.1193
>>1189Well yeah, like I said the bullets drop over distance, they don't fly straight. You have to adjust your aim and aim a bit higher to hit someone over a long distance. All guns have bullet drop, but it's most noticable in the tranq gun.
Try turning off the aim assist, if you had it on, to get a better feeling of it.
No.1195
>>1193I'll try that then.
No.1196
When a guard sees you, why does the whole base directly go on alert? In previous MGS games I think that could only happen when they had time to radio in an alert right? Like, you could get spotted but if you took down the guard who saw you quickly enough then the alert phase would end instantly.

Anyone here used the iDroid app available on smartphones? It's pretty gimmicky and personally I don't fancy it much since you can do everything on the main menu when playing rather than use the app.
