Could Kojima ever make something as philosophically profound and thought-provoking as MGS2 again?
Would he be able to top 2 in terms of ruses, cruises, and bruises?
2 made a lot of (so-called) MGS fans butthurt, but one thing generally agreed upon (except by pseudo-intellectual hipsters) is how just ahead of it's time the story of MGS2 was. Such a crazy redpill narrative, unlike anything ever done in any other game.
Is it possible Kojima is secretly doing the same for TPP, like one last big ruse before he retires (kek)? Or has he put away the fun and games for a too serious CoD clone to rake in the big bucks before he calls it quits?

I don't think he will do something of that caliber again, the backlash was just too big after mgs2. I expect some serious ruses in TPP though.

The halfchan /mgg/ would tell you, every character in the game is just an alter ego of ocelot, including dogs, whales and helicopters.

Hopefully for Silent Hills but I can't see it happening again for MGS (or maybe that's just what he wants us to think).

The promotions and publicity they've done already would make this one among the ruse-ier of the series, but 2 is on an entire other plane.

I get there's a message behind MGS2's story but the narrative is so frustratingly incomprehensible and it doesn't help that most of the exposition is done in drawn-out codec and cutscene conversations
Let's not encourage Kojima to do any more of this self-indulgent bullshit

I'll be honest, I have played MGS2 numerous times, and I still don't completely understand what was going on for the entirety of the Arsenal Gear chapter. But that message at the end of the game was just so beautiful to me, I honestly think the ending of this game changed my outlook on life.

To be honest, I had to read the wiki to understand what the fuck was going on.

MGS2 is Kojima's Empire Strikes Back.
It's not saying that Return of the Jedi or 3/4/5 are shit, it's just saying that he'd be very lucky to ever recreate something like that again.
That's why I like how different each game is. I would hate for him to "try" and top MGS2.
No.571
>>552I doubt he would do that again as he realized most of MGSfags are retarded and can't be bother to pay attention to the codec talks.
That's why in MGS3 the conversations are so boring and skippable.
>>564Kojima sold his art to the
La-li-lu-le-lo and we will never see another MGS with a message of introspection like MGS2 but instead fascism and hurr durrr murika fuck yeah bullshit cowadoody style.

First timer playing the MGS games. I'm currently on MGS2 and while I've known basic plot lines for most of the games as they've come out, I still manage to enjoy the games.
My favorite parts of the games are the codec indexes simply due to the fact I actually learn some really interesting things in the codecs.
I should have the game finished by the end of the week, and I'll come back and post my thoughts on it. It's funny, cause I've been working on a big paper about narratives, memes, inductive game theory, thought process, etc for quite a while…

Has Kojima himself ever spoken about the philosophical and post modern nature of MGS2?
No.1498

No, people just assume that all the faults and confusion of
MGS2 were done on purpose, and that Kojima is a secret
postmodern mastermind who ruses the world without letting
them in on his secret. Only those with the appropriate Philosophy
degrees can crack the shell
