Two Los Angeles police officers were shot at Sunday night while they drove their patrol car, police said. The officers returned fire, authorities said, and no one was injured.
One suspect was arrested and two weapons, including a rifle, were recovered. Another remains at large, prompting an hourslong manhunt involving about 100 officers, LAPD Capt. Lillian Carranza said.

And there was a second incident over the weekend in which police were fired at, this one in Florida on Sunday morning.
Will NYPD police deaths impact protests? Thousands honor slain NYPD officer

Someone fired three bullets at two deputies with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office as they sat in their patrol car.
"Both deputies reported hearing the whizzing sound of each projectile as they flew by," the sheriff's office said. "Deputies did not see the suspect or the vehicle from which the shots were fired."

Heh. Is this becoming an epidemic now? City wide riots soon?

Don't you just love the me generation? It's molded cops into being even more dickish, and molded people to deny responsibility for their actions and pin it on the cops, even on the ones that aren't powertripping shitheads.

I hope both the people and the cops get whats coming to them somehow.

The additional problem is that civil society seems to have tuned out of their political responsibilities altogether. They are too busy watching television to do the participatory democracy thing.
Public support of policemen when they do the right thing and condemnation and insistence of proper investigation when cops abuse their powers - Both of these are necessary for a healthy democracy. The problem is citizens have become disengaged from the process.

>have become disengaged from the process.
Either that or the few that are still engaged are largely divided into extremes. You are either a scumbag who hates cops or you support the pigs and the police state. There is no middle ground these days.

All I want is for an end to instance after instance of cops behaving badly and people getting hurt or dead in the process and the cop getting away with little or no punishment.

I don't want to see innocent cops attacked or gunned down in the street. Also a big problem is that lots of people are encouraging cop haters by saying that when you don't get justice you have the right to riot and go violent. In Ferguson, apparently we learned that black people don't vote and this is why they are under-represented in civic bodies. Instead of doing something about it those assholes are just rioting and making everything worse

One felon who did strong arm robbery in once place and attacked a cop at another place and got shot in self defense. The whole place erupts in flames.

Multiple cops shot for no reason other than being cops. No one even cares other than the cops. is it any wonder that cops tend to be tribalistic and start to look out for each other more than doing their job? What goes around comes around

But anon, clearly the system is rigged by the white man!

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little bit of truth to that though. It may be the most Liberal city in Missouri, but it's still Missouri, and from my experience there are some pretty racist people here and there at least out of the cities. Not sure how many are in STL though because I've never lived there.

I don't doubt that there are racist cops out there. The problem is when you brand an entire profession which provides a valuable service as racists and push thinly veiled exhortations about killing cops, it will always ned badly
