In my opinion there is no more harmful idea in political discourse than "the pills." It is most commonly used by the right, but all political groups have made use of a similar idea at some point in their history.

Consider the origins of the term. In the film 'The Matrix,' the protagonist Neo is offered a red pill that represents seeing the Matrix as a simulation and a blue pill that will allow him to go back to his ordinary life. The red pill is a "painful truth" and the blue pill is "blissful ignorance."

The problem when applying this metaphor to political issues is that it allows total dismissal of ones opponents. The belief that ones position represents a "painful truth" that must be accepted allows anyone who objects to be dismissed as too weak or cowardly to see an obvious fact.

However, a "fact" is nothing more than empirical data that can be verified. While it it is true that some facts are willfully ignored by certain parts of the population, an opinion or a position is not a fact.

It is a fact that, on average, a greater percentage of blacks than whites have been convicted of crimes in the United States in its recorded history.

It is an opinion that this difference is caused by institutionalized racism which causes blacks to be targeted more often by law enforcement.

It is also an opinion that blacks are an inferior race which is inherently predisposed to antisocial criminal behavior.

Both of these opinions can be supplemented with facts to make them more valid. Both require this support before acting on them can be justified. The "reality" is that there are no easy answers that make either opinion an unassailable fact. If that is "reality," who really took the blue pill?

Not only that, but in "The Matrix", the machines were actually the good guys, and Neo was a false messiah. The right choice would have been to take the blue pill.

>It is also an opinion that blacks are an inferior race which is inherently predisposed to antisocial criminal behavior.

But isn't it a fact that blacks have higher levels of testosterone on average, and that the so-called "warrior gene" is more prevalent in their population?

/pol/ usually categorizes Africans as to aggressive, and Asians to docile and humble. Generally Europeans seem to have a good mix of the two if that makes sense. They have the warrior genes but they lack the intellect to make good use of it. Level headed people on /pol/ realize that blacks can be functional and pleasant but they have to be guided and with good intentions. Only skinheads think nigs should be killed. Every race has a right to exist and improve themselves. All races have the right to have their lands stay homogenous and be able to appreciate others from a comfortable distance.

The pill concept is a useful tool in the way most marketing ploys are - it effectively reduces a complex situation or concept into one that's easily categorized, defined, and comes prepackaged with a "correct" answer.

If a man has 4 kids, the realistic answer would be "dude should get a minivan". But based on marketing not unlike our pills, he wouldn't be caught dead with a minivan because that's for pussies and soccer moms, and since he's a man he should have a huge truck and/or sports car. Screw the kids, we can shove a couple in the trunk.

>blood traitor

Please use some words that actually mean something.

So, fooling him into getting something that's not what he needs and is probably more expensive by exploiting his insecurities? If you're arguing in favor of 'pilling, you should have chosen a better example.

I'm terribly confused, Anon. Where in that post did I imply I was in favor of it?

I apologize profusely- I was worn out from finals when I posted that.
