The pill concept is a useful tool in the way most marketing ploys are - it effectively reduces a complex situation or concept into one that's easily categorized, defined, and comes prepackaged with a "correct" answer.
If a man has 4 kids, the realistic answer would be "dude should get a minivan". But based on marketing not unlike our pills, he wouldn't be caught dead with a minivan because that's for pussies and soccer moms, and since he's a man he should have a huge truck and/or sports car. Screw the kids, we can shove a couple in the trunk.
