Fellow Libertarians on /midpol/, what is your opinion on the Free State Project?

https://freestateproject.org/

For those of you not in the know, it is a movement to give libertarians the ability to actually have a presence in a state, by asking Libertarians to pledge a move to New Hampshire, which is arguably the most based state in the union right now when it comes to politics, personal freedom, and economic freedom. For example, they just outlawed Police from using Military equipment. They are also one of the few states left where putting on a seatbelt or acquiring auto insurance isn't against the law, but that doesn't stop most of them from doing that anyway.

And the ones in state (including the early movers) are even making a difference there, doing their own things, like cryptocurrency activism + setting up actual bitcoin ATMs, getting their own businesses to accept gold and silver, and getting libertarians state government.

While I don't fully agree with their beliefs, I wish them luck.

It's an interesting concept I suppose, but it won't get much of a following. Things haven't gotten so bad that people are going to feel the need to isolate themselves from all other political identities. We're not a cult you know.

I had no idea NH was so based.

 No.238

If I could get a decent paying job in NH I'd move there. Granted I'm not looking for a job now but if I do find myself wanting to move I'm defiantly looking towards NH.

I rather it not be New Hampshire but people would complain if it was in the "nigger states" where I'd prefer so w/e.

I'm not a libertarian but I wouldn't mind joining them.

Libertarian checking in.

It's a fantastic idea, founded in good faith. I'd like to see a real life Galt's Gulch experiment happen the one in chili doesn't count. Trouble is, it isn't bad enough yet for it to really take root. Most people are still comfortable.

That said, if we could get a state or two to actually vote in the presidentials for a 3rd party that actually represented some of my ideals, it might shake things up a little.

IMO the core problem of US is, that the only parties to rule the country are controlled by corporations. Both sides (social state, and "free" state) can be good, if politics not driven by greedy corporations and banks. Some Greek dude wrote stuff about something like that.

I don't think 3rd parties work in our system. They never get enough attention. I wish we had a parliment

Proportional system is exactly what US needs. And ruling parties are never gonna do that.

of course not. they aren't getting rid of the PACs that are killing the country

There was a comedian that said "senators should have to wear jumpsuits just like NASCAR drivers. Have logos of everyone who paid out to them". I agree with that, it's a corruption of ideals.

Just as soon as 1 person can start a PAC that financially crushes dissenting opinion, that's a silenced voice.

The ideal solution would be "every candidate gets X dollars as awarded by the gov for their campaign," but that implementation's a nightmare all it's own.

>>254

I used to throw my vote away every 4 years to whichever 3rd party has the best chance of breaking that magical 5% barrier and getting the federal "election campaign fund" bucks. Even if it wasn't my party, having a 3rd player in the game would change things.

Until PACs are gone it doesn't matter really what citizens think. There is too much of a correlation between who is elected and how much they spend

there is a lot old presidents have warned that America has ignored

 No.264

>>262

That's why I'm thinking the ideal solution honestly was the presidential campaign fund. Any party with >5% popular vote got a federal grant come the next election.

Combine that with some sort of law stipulating that they cannot spend more than the grant provided, and suddenly it's a game of chess rather than checkers, which is at least a step forward.

I wish that would happen
