I will be open minded and will listen to any reasonable arguments. My only values are that heavy government is corrupt and that shit sucks.

Extremism allows for completely stupid shit like isolationism to sound like a great idea when it is coherent with the extremist ideology.

Centrism, when informed by history, facts, and reason, tempers all and endures all. When multiple left wing parties rule or exist overwhelming the right, centrism does not shift ideologically. Though to temper the storm we may push more right ideas, we remain balanced.

Centrism focuses on balance and survival. While the left and right focus on power and elimination of the opposing side which they never achieve, or do so only briefly before public sentiment shifts.

This.

This is also why so many people are jumping on the Trump/Bernie bandwagon (they run as dem/rep but only in name).

(not OP) But I don't think I'm a centrist, I simply don't believe in any sort of distinct political party system.

You would classify those two on the same level compared to other candidates present and past? Populists?

Centrist philosophy would allow you to hate government because governments tend to be imbalanced.
