It's time for a really big question /midpol/ which may or may not induce a flamewar: What do you think of some of the other politics boards?
No.99
Honestly the only real board I have a beef with is /pol/. I agree with a few things they say and go there on occasion, but I honestly can't tell if half the time they are trolling, or if they are dumber than a sack of rocks.
They are practically reverse SJW's because:
1. They are so fucking full of themselves that they call anyone who isn't completely on board with their beliefs a degenerate. They don't even bother to really understand other beliefs or put themselves in another groups shoes. Hence their unnatural hatred and assumed generalizations for boards like /leftypol/, /pone/, /furry/, /cuteboys/, and /fem/.
2. If a questionably reliable set of facts is presented to them, they'll believe it without question if the "facts" are in their favor.
3. They believe that they are inclusive of other political beliefs, when in reality they shoo away anything that doesn't cater to them.
4. Like SJW's they try to militarize and spread their influence. They've tried to coopt gamergate.
5. Most importantly, they actually believe facism works, because in the end it appeals to their ego. I'd love to see /pol/ try to form their own government, and see their ego then when the facism they wanted doesn't appeal to what they (individually) wanted, but what the people in charge want.
As for /leftypol/ I used to kind of like that board before they got really polarized after rising to the top. I still prefer them over /pol/, because in the end they don't believe their own hype anywhere as much. Still, the place is still kind of an echochamber. I also didn't like how they had a /pol/ containment thread.

>>99I ended up assigning the same hierarchy, /midpol/>/leftypol/>/pol/.
Unfortunately the number of active users in each board is inversely proportional to quality. Shit, this place is almost like Reddit.

/pol/s state is a bit up and down. The days in which some of the shitty mods who keep banning everything are not present, the board is nice to use. The other days they really hamper the use of the board. I think one of their board volunteers is an SJW but he is clever because he pretends to be Natsoc and plays the Natscos against libertarians and the others. The board owner is not the problem. The problem is he may have appointed a few faggot volunteers and he won't remove them.

>>101>> the number of active users in each board is inversely proportional to qualityI think that's true of a lot of places, not just reddit.

>>104For this reason I'm going to stay the sole mod of this place for as long as I can. If possible I want to only hire someone I absolutely trust.
Co-opting isn't completely against the rules, but that's for fun, I want to make that hard and actually challenging, and fuck if I'm going to let a mod with a moderating agenda in. They are welcome to try for the challenge though, because that would make things interesting.

Stormfags are just as bad as SJWs.

>>99To be fair, part of their extremism is a defense mechanism to keep normies out.
>>104Yes. /pol/ clearly has its good days and bad days, and I suspect the same ting regarding mods.
1. /pol/ - full of themselves, and they are far too quick to just trust not very reliable sources that support their views. Despite that, they are open to reason and will begrudgingly let you be if you can buck up your stuff. They also have a pretty good sense of humor and can still laugh at themselves from time to time.
2. /leftypol/ - I haven't been there as much as on /pol/ yet, but so far they seem less extreme and more self-aware. However, their discussion are not as interesting as /pol/'s and they do not seem to have as much fun as /pol/ does.
No.190
>>174They have just as much fun as /pol/ does. They've simply redistributed all of the fun equally among all of the posters.

I think /pol/ is filled with facist loons and children who desperately want to belong to a community, and so are willing to stomache a bizarre and just plain repulsive ideology.
/leftypol/ is filled with retarded children who just learned about Karl Marx in history class last Tuesday, and are now convinced that communist utopia is so cool!1!!
Either side is imbecilic and far removed from reality.
I'm no liberal, I have socially conservative views and I am inclined to deregulate markets, being a businessman myself. However, I do not share the intolerance and hate which /pol/ has because I have met people from around the globe and that in and of itself is a very good cure to blind hatred.

Left and right extremes are no different. They're both about sticking to a set of fixed beliefs and blaming everything on others. It's easy to think like this. It feels comfortable to think you've got all the answers and safe because you've always got a bunch of allies that can seem like friends. Also, maybe even most important: it feels like having an identity. Because of this, neither side is willing to make any compromises. Neither side will ever solve anything, because they'll always be fighting.
Certain ideas need to be combined to work effectively, they will not function well on their own. I don't want a world where powerful people can exploit large parts of the population by keeping them down and in poverty. I also don't want a world where everyone gets rewarded the same, whether they work their ass off, or are a complete slackers. We need a bit of both.
Being centered seems boring. Staying centered takes constant effort. Being centered feels uncertain. And centered solutions may not always be the best solution, but they're always a good starting point.
