Kansas is a lot more like the midwest than the west, unfortunately. If you kick Kansas out, then basically you're saying Oklahoma through North Dakota is a separate region. The bad apart about this is that the KC and Omaha metro areas are very much midwestern, and those state's populations are overwhelmingly in those areas.

Ca here. Can't imagine moving to the Midwest because I would be quite bored. Here I can eat at a different Asian restaurant everyday if I want to, and I'm not talking about Americanized variants titled "Bonsai Wok: Asian Sushi" which I have seen in the North-West. I am much more likely to move abroad than into the hinterland.

OP here, I've been living in Madison now for the greater part of a month. It's okay, there are many nice things but I'll always pine for my cozy apartment in Kane Co, IL.

Things I have discovered/learned about Madison:

>Navigating the convoluted one-way streets and intersections is still a nightmare, as long as I stick to the same route I'm fine, but if I go anywhere new, I always end up somehow getting stuck on a highway entry ramp

>Apartment hunting really does suck, even amongst my new co-workers, a lot of them are looking to relocate and having a hard time

>The spring foliage really does help it seem less depressing

>Milios is nowhere near as good as Jimmy Johns or Jersey Mikes

>Lunch options in the Shenk/Atwood and Willy Street area are all overpriced

>It's also full of hipsters/hippies

Southwestern here, used to live in the east coast and MI.

Common sense -avoid Shitcongo, Detroit and the niggified areas of ohio. Wisconson and Minnesota probably arent too bad imo, and northern MI as well

Thankfully the SW doesnt got much a prob with nigs, but whites are a minority here.
