>Live in Southern Michigan
>It's really nothing at all like the Midwest is made out to be, much more similar to the East Coast
>Always lumped in with the Midwest
>Will never actually be Midwest
Feels bad man.
Northern Michigan (Not just the UP, but the northern half of the mitten as well) is much more midwest-y than my area will ever be. I just want to live in a small town, own a few acres of land, and make my livelihood off my own homestead. Fugg

>Grow up as the nerdy kid out in the sticks
>Somehow miraculously make friends
>barely have anything in common with most of the people here.
>still share a few of their of their political ideals
>most of the people in places I've considered moving to are very liberal.

Why do people with my interests always have to swing upper left? Where are all the libertarians who like animu, the vidya, and other shit like that?

 No.176

>outsiders think Missourah is a Southern state
>local idiots fly confederate flags
Why? Fuck the South. I wish the Midwest had common symbols of identity so I could display that flag.

>Where are all the libertarians who like animu, the vidya, and other shit like that?
Up near the Iowa border bro.

Yeah, confederate cellphone holders, license plates, shirts, fucking everything. It's irritating.

Funny you should mention that, it reminds me of a story that goes with this thread.

Me and some internet friends went on a road trip. One of them was from Los Angeles, so I was trying to show him that Missourah wasn't as bad as he thought.

Naturally I-70 is barren as fuck and we didn't have time to really stop any place.

Then we see a guy with a paper license plate.
>"Man I love America!"

Then later going down I-70, some farmer had stacked a bunch hay bails to set up an American flag made out of swastikas.
>"Man, fuck America!"

I don't even come across stuff like that. It all naturally happened when I was trying to show my friends the place.

Strangely enough, he loved Kansas of all places, despite there being absolutely nothing for miles upon miles, all because of how the buildings were arranged and the lack of hills.

Do they not do temporary paper plates in California when you get a new car or something? I see them frequently.

>where da libertarians at?
There aren't really any in the Midwest, it seems to me. Out of all the states, Alaska and New Hampshire have the most, and they hardly have any. It's pretty much red or blue here.

>>176
Missourah's a border state, so it can really go either way. The lack of symbols is what makes the Midwest boring and therefore great in a way.

>Yeah, confederate cellphone holders, license plates, shirts, fucking everything. It's irritating.

Because these idiots have to double down on shitty Southern Culture because of the Rust Belt. They can't function in a white-collar world without being emasculated by their own stupidity so they latch onto something that gives them a false sense of worth. "HUUURRR MUH CULTURE! GERTTHHER DONE!"

At least you aren't Nebraska. Nothing of interest EVER happened in Nebraska.

Hell no. I am totally fine with the children of the corn atmosphere that is my life, and shitcago totally ruins everything in this state. Our roads down here are always under construction, yet never get fixed, because of you corrupt leftist fucks.

Succession from Shitcongo when?

I slightly know the feel though.

>MFW St. Louis, our worst city is the only thing that makes us relevant anymore. No one gives a shit about superior and cleaner KC.

You should read about Omaha's history. It's fucking nuts. We hung our mayor twice.

 No.259

>>257
Omaha's early history is really crazy, yeah, but the city does a shit job of promoting it aside from the race riot. Part of it's because of how bulldozer-happy we are here, I'm sure. If people feel too strongly about Omaha and where it came from, it means they won't accept shit like the old Post Office being torn down and replaced by that Soviet-looking piece of shit in Little Italy.

Our governor's weird obsession with trying to be the People's Republic of Illinois is getting under my skin, but I'm really glad we've blown Glorious Leader Mike Pence out of the water with his ridiculous state newspaper (paid for by taxpayers like you) agenda.

Now, if only we could figure out what the fuck we're supposed to do with ISTEP.

So you want to like us huh?
>be lorded over by one large, communist shithole
>pay too much in taxes for the welfare niggers of said communist shithole
>have at least one block of every road in every city under construction at all times, make sure to use shit materials when fixing these roads so they will need fixed again soon
>have most of the state republican, other than communist shithole
>have some of the most restrictive gun laws and one of the largest gun crime rates at the same time in communist shithole
>take all of the most obnoxious people in your state, send them to communist shithole, make sure that they are the only ones who make an impression on people from other states, thus making people from other states hate you because they think everyone in your state is like that. Oh, and make sure all of the obnoxious people absolutely love communist shithole
>make sure as many politicians are corrupt as possible, them getting caught multiple times will help cement your state's reputation
>make it so the sky is gray 80% of the time
Congrats you are now IL have fun.

You KCfags better never let post-modernist douchebags tear this down and throw up some brutalist affront to beauty.

KC has a big artfag community, so if anyone would have done it it would have been them.

That's what we've been trying to prevent, a friend and I have dressed like Hunter S. Thompson in a casual drive through Danville and a bit further because we had our CC and rifles with us meeting a guy for a quick buy.

Also, Indiana already has the gray sky 80% of the time. At least as of current, as for corruption, while I have very little love for Democrats (and Republicans), it's pretty shady that Glorious Leader stripped Glenda Ritz of all her power due to being a Democrat.

Hey it could be worse, you could be living in the boring part of the Dakotas. You guys even have a great employment rate.

 No.351

That we do. Honestly maybe I was being too pessimistic. This state can be pretty fun when it's warm out, but the winters man, the winters.

 No.354

>>343
Omaha and Lincoln aren't terrible. Omaha's just big enough to have the occasional major concert or event, and Lincoln's a big college town.

The rest of the state is pretty miserable, though.

 No.355

We have a lot of good camping grounds too and I've heard we have some great rafting as well. Maybe we aren't that bad, maybe the things to do just aren't that obvious to coastal plebs.

 No.356

>>355
The great rafting is only great because so few people know about it. Imagine if the Niobrara or Middle Loup became overdeveloped, tourist trap shitholes like Okoboji or Linoma Beach.

 No.357

>>356
I have never actually been to either of those areas. My family is from the west coast, we never really went to those places for vacations. I've always wanted to go to Okoboji, does it suck now?

 No.360

>>357
From what I hear, it's kind of fun, but they'll stick you up the ass for room and board, and they've done their part to make it as touristy as possible.

You're probably going to HyVee. They have some really good stuff, but you pay for the quality of the store.

 No.453

>live in Wisconsin

>hate the cold winters

>can't even take the fairly mild humidity in the summer

>can't enjoy local beer because I have no interest in drinking

>don't care about handegg or the Fudgepackers

>don't enjoy hunting or fishing

>hate getting swamped by ticks and mosquitoes whenever I go outside

I like fish fries, cheese curds, and brats, though, as well as the German, Czech, and Polish cultural influences.

There are things I love here, but I'd probably end up moving somewhere with a more agreeable climate if my family wasn't here.

 No.454

Central Ohio reporting (although I'm actually living in Texas for the summer).

Growing up I always complained about Ohio being lame, but as time has gone on I've found we have a real good balance.

Columbus can be a fun city and there are some quality restaurants and such, and then you can also get out to the countryside, we have some land in the southern part of the state and have been getting back to our midwestern farmer roots, also plenty of space to shoot funs.

I'm with >>176 , wish we had some midwest symbols or such.

I think our flag would end kind of communist looking because I can only think of putting gears and grain or corn on it.
