ohohohooooo… I wish that was true. I don't know about some parts of the midwest, but places like Missouri and Kansas are pretty bad on that count.
Just because the midwest doesn't happen to have as many borderline hick stereotypes, doesn't mean they aren't there. In my senior year in highschool I went to votech in Jefferson City for half the day, and in the front of the bus were these people that perfectly met the stereotype, camo hats and everything. Everytime we'd get into Jeff, if they saw a black person out the window they'd open up the windows and yell "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER!"
It is true that generally people around here are typically nicer and less judgmental though.
