I have to disagree. Vocaloid (and Utau) already came a long way. There's still room for improvement, but I doubt we'll see (hear) anything ground breaking from now on. Naturally, Utau has more of that room but whatever, it's already better in certain ways

I don't understand what you mean here. It has always been about making content, and that hasn't changed. But a lot of famous producers moving on, the market being saturated means you're going to have a hard time finding good things if you're a fan of someone other than Miku or Teto.
This is entirely personal, but V4 being subpar in certain cases didn't help either.
All in all, it feels like the old hype is gone.
As I said, it's not dead, but really isn't the same as it used to be.
