That really depends on who you ask. The main difference you need to know, is that Quranism is based on the words of the Quran, while the others are based on various "traditions" as gathered and filtered down for many generations, and usually interpreted by your local Imam / priest.

I've gotten several perfectly decent threads deleted, others just ignored or - as with many others - bombarded with "You must follow the Sunnah and obey your Imam, it is the will of Allah" replies. What i feel really sad for is the newcomers who don't know anything about Islam, they really get bombarded with this thinking that's all the religion is about.

Can't help you there. /islam/ is still a very slow board, though it is in the top 50.

Islam is about the Qur'an and the Sunnah. You can't reject the Sunnah.

“Obey Allah and the Messenger, so that you may be blessed.” (Qur’an 3:132)

“And obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers.” (Qur’an 8:1)

“O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not nullify your deeds.” (Qur’an 47:33)

Other verses are 4:59, 5:92, 8:20, 8:46, 24:54, 58:13 and 64:12.

Every single verse of the Holy Qur’an which speaks of the ‘Obedience to Allah’ without an exception mentions ‘Obedience to the Messenger’ as well.

Islam is not a buffet. Following Qur'an AND the Sunnah doesn't make one "extremist" it makes one "Muslim".

I hope someday you'll realize that.

The sunnah didn't exist when the Quran was revealed. What later generations called the Sunnah was retroactively applied to a far older Arabic term with a very loose meaning compared to the legalism that came later.
