This is not the sort of thing that happens in a civilized and god fearing country. Dubai is just as much a cesspit of corruption and moral; decay as much of the rest of the middle east.

As for Oman, it's ibadhi muslims are pretty liberal compared to other muslim countries as in it accepts western culture but doesn't practice it. I'd say it's better off than other countries in terms of a collapse in oil. Only problem is that the people don't invest in the future.

It's a good thing that this country has a small population, its economy can't support many considering how poor it is. Infrastructure just werks. A good sense of comparing the Oman to the rest of the gulf is driving from the city of Buraimi to the city that borders it which is Al Ain.
