HBGs and LBG have interchangeable parts that they can switch in and out. What if it had interchangeable parts in the form of nozzles? Attaching a wide nozzle would make the spray much wider so that it encompassed a much larger area when shot, a long nozzle would make the spray go further.

All ranged weapons have the ability to do cutting damage (LBG and HBG through slicing shots and Bows though their melee attack) so maybe you could do a short melee attack to do cutting damage.

I don't really know if this weapon would necessarily need a special move as being able to do continuous elemental damage on a monster is already amazing plus being able to inflict status ailments on monsters after a few seconds of continuous spray is just incredible.

i also agree, a special attack might make it overpowered, but what if its special attack is allowing you to be launched into the air? point the thing down, release a blast of whatever gas you're using, and get a jump boost while also doing AoE damage

How about this. Batcannon which has a halfswitch of style(half of a switch because full switch would be too redundant) into hbg. Has 3 stationary type of charges normal-weak bat hit(charge cancel hit)/strong hit(frontier has what I imagine on hammers moveset if I remember correctly)/360 homerun hit. Maybe make those charge hits the only way to make it shoot and aim at different angles or even to make it just shoot at all. Or you can aim with it like hbg, but it takes stamina and takes time to make it shoot so charge attack to cannon shot combo would require skill and precise timing, but will pay off in higher damage output. Like gunlance it could have different type of shots small(impact, almost no drop off)/big(impact, higher drop off)/gas(either gunlance like or element\status dmg over time)/cut(maybe even make melee attacks do cutting damage too).

For model designers the solution could be remodeling some wide type of gunlances and 2 other types remade into sawn-off versions.

So the dust has settled somewhat on MH4U's release.

How are you enjoying it?
Any particular things you like or dislike?
Where are you currently?
Any other misc. things related to the game you want to share?

As for me, im G3. Been loving the solo quests a lot more than in previous MonHuns. I guess the characters actually having a bit more character to them helps. Plus the questlines feel a bit more personal.
Dat cowardly palico questline, though.

I've been thoroughly enjoying the game.
I think one of my favorite aspects is that the characters are better, making me want to skim what they say instead of skip it entirely lel.
Also, the fact that you not only have many towns to visit, but that each one offers something different, is really cool.
Im also enjoying the Charge Blade (although I main Gunlance)

Bretty gud, have some fun.

Like:

Its a mh game with easy online and lots of content.

Dislike:

Its a mh game with online being so accessible that you question sometimes if it really was worth it triple carting carried to g retards with no armor or\and actual skills being almost a norm.

Terrible solo experience, main quest line in particular.

Slower interaction speed and annoying npc dialog popups.

30 fps and drops to 20. Endgame feels unnecessary grindy and unfun until you farm enough. Then you question yourself "was having no fun for so long worth it?". Then it becomes not only unfun but also highly depressing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's implied that they surgically dissect them to get the more difficult materials, hence why the guild sometimes gives you their extra plates and such when you cap.

I'm emulating it right now while I wait on my copy of 4U. The hitboxes kinda bother me, but I love the kitchen compared to 3U. They all have their particular charm.
