No.16
Hello, my fellow hunters o/
What are your favorite weapon types, and why? Would they be plausible IRL? Would you be willing to train to use one? Are there any weapon types you would like to see in the future?
Basically, discuss the weapon types in general. This board needs more traffic

Me personally, I like Gunlances. Not sure why, I guess I've always liked the idea of one.
I think that a gunlance-like weapon is possible, but it wouldnt really be viable in today's world as an actual weapon.

My 2 favorite weapon types are LS and Lance, but only LS is even remotely plausible outside of MH. I can't even begin to imagine how ripped you'd need to be to one-hand a hunter-sized lance.
As far as new weapons I would like to see goes, I don't really have any in mind, but something to fill the fast blunt weapon niche would be nice. I assume tonfas fill that role (I don't really know much about Frontier), but those things are way too ridiculous to be in the mainstream games.

>>20Basically all the weapons in momster hunter are too large to exist irl. Real lances weren't much shorter than the game ones though, but I think they were much thinner. I guess the planet of momster hunter has lower gravity than earth, its the only way people would be able to effectively wield those huge weapons.

My favorite weapon type is the Charge Blade. I just find it to be soo nice and fluid in it's attacks and it works perfect for me seeing as i can both be highly offensive and also a bit more defensive seeing as i got a shield and can block. I don't know if it would be possible for Charge Blades to even exist.

>>26I havent had a chance to use one, couldnt afford a japanese 3ds to play it (now im just waiting for 4U)
I guess a weapon like it could exist, a sword and shield that combine to make a larger weapon, but I dont see how the charge function would work, or if it would even be possible.

The way the charging works is that it charges when you hit the monsters.
No.31
>>30Ik that, but I mean, in the "real world" I cant think of a way to charge a weapon based on damage caused by said weapon
No.32
>>31Ohh, well i guess the charging itself could sort of be done in the same way Switch Axes do it you know with reloading and stuff like that but im not exactly sure.
No.33
>>32True. Although, with sufficiently advanced technology it might be able to leech bioelectric energy or something from whatever It's damaging.
Anyone have ideas of weapons they would like to see in future games?
I'd definitely like to see a new ranged weapon. Maybe something like boomerangs or shurikens. Maybe a new ranged weapon could function like a flame thrower but you can change ammo types to shoot different elemental things. Like, shooting sleep gass, or lightning, or fire, or maybe even brachydios slime. That would be freakin amazing. It would have shorter range than the other range weapons, and would fire continuously until it runs out of ammo in its clip/tank thing, at which point it would be reloaded. As a secondary attack it could maybe empty an entire clip at one time to either launch a concentrated burst of whatever its using as ammo, or maybe launching the clip itself as some sort of grenade or rocket. Different weapons would give boosts to different types of ammo (like bowguns, sort of). What do u think, hunters, is this an interesting idea? Would u try it out?
No.34
>>33Wyvernfire: the weapon? Sure, I'd use it.
No.35
>>34It'd be something like a nerfed, elemental wyvernfire, with similar or slightly longer range than regular wyvernfire.

Posting so this board can last, because I like.

I'm between Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Sword, Switch Axe, Lance and Gunlance.
IRL, only Sword and Shields, Dual Swords and Light Bowguns. Lances could work if shortened enough.
Fuck it, any weapon in MH is plausible IRL if lightened.
No.78
I've always enjoyed the lance, and it seems to have enjoyed me. It's a bit slow but very versatile and fairly safe to use on a tough hunt.
No.81
GS, Lance and Hammer. Not in particular order.
GS and hammer are awesome. Landing that lvl 3 charge or knocking monster out twice or three times per hunt is awesome.
And when I want to go elemental damage I take my lance out. I use dual swords a lot for elemental damage too, but it is just not that fun. Also hitting tails is sometimes nearly impossible with them, because of short reach.
I use almost every weapon. Except long sword. I just don't like the spirit gauge at all. It was okay in FU when it wasn't so depended on it.
>would they be plausible irl
Not with those sizes.
>would you be willing to train to use one?
If wielding Tremblor Granboros was possible, that one. My favorite lance.
>any weapon types you would like to see in the future?
2h axes. Switchaxe and chargeblade just don't cut it for me. What I want would play a bit like hammer. And maybe a pinch of GS.
>can move with charge like hammer
>lvl 1 charge dashes short distance and maybe spins once
>lvl 2 charge is dash sideways hit like hammer+switchaxe (sideway hit animation from switchaxe)
>lvl 3 charge leap slam
So a heavy weapon with some mobility.
On side note: I don't know why you included tonfas. I doubt we will never see frontier. maybe that is for better
No.82
>>81I didnt purposefully include them, although looking back I could have cropped them out. I didnt really think about it.

I want more weapons that fill the roll of support weapons like hunting horn
I always wanted to see a weapon that was kind of like a blowgun but it was also a flute so it would make more sense to be doing support from further away unlike those idiots who just play hunting horn songs from far away and do nothing else
You could give it good healing songs (which is where hunting horns fail) but give it less powerful support songs such as attack up
You could make it so you can lock healing and buffs to one player like the medi-gun in tf2 or make it so you can buff and heal everyone at once with slightly nerfed effects
In single player it would just be a weaker blowgun/bow but in multiplayer it would really shine
No.159
In FU I used LS, bow and hammer, in that order. Didn't care much because played solo.
Now that I'm playing 4U demo I'm trying to learn more weapons, I've had most fun with HH so far, CB looks mighty interesting and I think there have been some changes to bow and LS, especially online so I'm looking forward to figuring that out
No.174
In 3U my most used weapons are GS, LA, and GL. I will be making an effort in 4 to git gud with HH. I'm not a fan of the new weapons because of how you have to charge them up, but I'll probably still use Charge Axe on the side.
