The book essentially focuses on Osiris and his life, death, and rebirth, and how these events set forth the structure for the Egyptian Death Cult that dominated their society. The sub-chapters of the book begin with the prefix "ro" which is ambiguous for either "chapter" or "spell" leading many to believe that the book is not just a religious text but also a spellbook of sorts useful for communicating with gods.
