Oddball. Misfit. Stranger. Though they took time to evolve from much gentler, saccharine words, these bitter sounds would come to define you. You never fit in with your peers, but to your credit you never really felt compelled to try. Maybe it was principle, maybe it was sloth. Who's to say but you. Most of your natural characteristics were comfortably average. You were hardy, but not imposing. Bright, but not genius. Agile, but not graceful.
The heavens seemed to frown upon you, though. Every step you took, every plan you made, every dream you had seemed to cause misfortune to you and most everyone around you. You'd even been born unlucky- so feebly you slid from the womb that they thought you'd never survive. Though you still bore the physical underdevelopment and small stature of a childhood as a runty little oddity, you still drew breath. Perhaps one could call that a miracle in its own right.
However, there was one thing about yourself you could truly be prideful of: Your presence. You knew how to handle people better than anyone you knew. You could find the best bargains in town, and most everyone owed you a favor or two for something. It was a natural talent you had- but it drove the wedge between you and society even deeper.
You see, you are not human. This fantastic quality you possess would be invaluable to a human, but you were born a luckless girl y the name of Sylvia, the child of a race of nomadic warriors known to the world as lizardmen. Combat and honor were their lifeblood, and they were so very disappointed to find it did not flow through your veins. Sure, you could use a bow or shortsword as any other normal person could, but you lacked the strength to fight.
You still had your mother's looks to fall back on, even when others ridiculed every other part of you. Shining green scales armored your frail arms and legs, coated your long, thin tail, and framed your high cheekbones and thoughtful yellow eyes. Stunning emerald hair fell to your waist, longer than what most lizardgirls considered practical. You tended to dress a bit more conservatively than the warriors around you, who favored a mixture of chain mail and maneuverable (but also strategically skimpy) leotards. You kept to your simple cloth layers and drab cloaks, which kept you warm out in the woods where you liked to spend your time. Time away from people was something you enjoyed, despite your skill when engaging with them.
You were used to the alienation by now.
But all of that was about to change.
Character finalized, thread is rip unless y'all wanna know anything else. And yes, the character was intended to be a lizardgirl before any rolls were made. You just so happened to roll decent stats for a Leanin Sidhe instead of a warrior.
