I set up my surround sound system finally and wished to christen it. However, I did not realize how rare surround sound source material seems to be. You'd think it would be more popular. I tried to play some tracks from YouTube billed as 5.1 (including a testing track) but hilariously it was all 2 channel. I suppose Youtube only supports 2 channel stereo audio.

Because of this, I torrented the Blueray rip of the re-release of the Quadraphonic of Atom Heart Mother. It was Dolby Digital 5.1. I must say I was disappointed. While it was Quadraphonic it was poorly mixed. It was primarily a stereo recording that seemed to have my two rears hardly playing. The original Quadraphonic record was reviewed as having a "360 sound field" which had swooping of the audio through all speakers. I am unsure if I got a bum blueray or not. Still, it irritated me greatly. I never owned the Quadraphonic record, only the stereo.

This brought me to the question, why is there not more Quadraphonic albums coming out with the re-rise in Surround Sound receivers? My receiver has modes for pseudo-quadraphonic but this produces undesirable results.

There's a bunch here. It'll take a while to download, but it's the biggest compilation of shit I've found

Mixes are pretty hit or miss. There's some really good ones Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode are consistently good mixes but there's a lot of crappy up-mixes that don't add anything from just listening to the stereo source on a surround setup.

I've been reading mixing secrets by Mike senior, and he explains a little on surround mixes. Basically it is fairly difficult to do it well on digital, so expand that to analog equipment back then, and the fact most people were luck to have stereo. Mixers probably put all their effort in stereo, and comb filtering with extra speaks probably did not help as well.

What the fuck is this scamware site? I click one to download, it requires Javascript. It's a rar hosted on one of two third-party websites, one requires money, the other allows one download, throttled, in a 24 hour period. Do you actually use this? If you do, you are dumb.

bro just buy mono original blue notes, you dont need quadrophonic

Thanks for the warning, was about to ceck that out.

You gotta use Ex-Load, it's throttled but it's not that big of a deal if you have a server or computer that's on all day

Board is dead as hell until I make a thread, then it's bumpped to page 2. Bumping

I made this to be a general on quadraphonics, but no one is posting and it is on page 3. Bump?

this isn't exactly the fastest board on the internet

This. There's only a few albums that are worth finding multichannel mixes. Pic related is one that actually sounds really good on a surround setup
