Was Kiss the first band to have their own toy line?

I know Beatles and a bunch of other 60s acts had plenty of silly cash-in products made, but they weren't made directly in cahoots with the band, and often disliked by them. The Kiss toys were a integral part of the band's concept.

I think its easier to just say that Kiss was the first band that marketed itself as a live theatrical show. Broadway shows for example can have plenty of merchandise associated with it. Kiss wasn't just a band, they marketed themselves as a general show where the live performers happened to play instruments and sing.
