put a cross-board link in the top sticky, this way actual music production is on an appropriate board rather than wasting space here which could be further used to share music, talk about music, share eachothers music, etc.

Meanwhile in /musicprod/ they also have soundcloud threads, but I don't think that's quite right. If anything /musicprod/ soundclouds should be WIPs, but /mu/ soundclouds should be finished tracks. this way feedback on WIPs is feedback from people who know wtf they're talking about, at least slightly.

this also encourages a lot of cross-posting for producers. and encourages /musicprod/ users to come post on /mu/ as well, assuming they don't already.

i had a dream last night of an 8chan label but that is very far fetched. at least a collective of professional and well moulded competent musicians would be satisfying.

in theory we could do an 8chan psudo-label. we due to the existence of bandcamp, we don't need to rely on labels for distribution, but we could still use the benefit of a label for promotion, legal affairs, and planing for tours if such a thing was to be done.

Since most of us don't really give a fuck about piracy (hey, the cost of a cd is less than the cost of promotion a pirate would generate) and most of us wouldn't be touring, that boils the purpose of the label down 100% to promotion.

Which basically means everyone involved slaps a "label" onto their music/album art in some discrete but still noticeable way, and then said label also does promotion for said artist(s).

Since some of us (though not all) give away music, the label shouldn't cost money to be part of but instead operate on donation. In theory the label could operate via patreon, and the funds from patreon would go directly to promotion IE paying for advertising for said music.

Or you know they could do what labels do and take a cut of profits and not mess with patreon.

Realistically though it wouldn't even need money for "label" status, it could just be a soundcloud page and the like, that periodically reposts/shares music (Like a promotional channel on soundcloud or youtube, that regularly shares music en-mass with links to store pages… you know, like monstercat making regular mix/mashups of new releases)

also as for being the only one who doesn't use FL Studio, there's one person who posted looking for stuff for reason, and another who posted about Sunvox expressly because it is GNU+Linux native. I'm pretty sure that those won't be the same person, and neither of them use FL. unless you're one or more of them. which would be weird… i didn't think you could run reason on linux.

Additionally if I ever get back into chiptunes I wouldn't use FL for that.

but it is good looking with some form of quality control.
