Who else is glad vaporwave is dead?
Literal meme shit made by autistic 15 year olds who slow down old songs in fl studio and slap on some pictures from old 80s jap commercials/seinfeld/windows and call it original music. I don't understand how this even got popular.

I don't blame the creators, they were just trying something new. Blame the bandwagoning fad faggots that jump on this shit and call it good. The same that has been happening with 80s synth revival. It creates unnatural levels of interest and eventually spreads to normies who forget about it in a year and it ends up even more dead than when it began.

Plus, new albums have basically been confirmed to be in the works for bl00dwave, 2814, and Vektroid, all of which will likely be killer. And I suspect we'll see new releases from 식료품groceries, Nmesh, and death's dynamic shroud.wmv at some point this year as well.

That's what you get for trying to introduce music that is clearly not for normal people to normal people.
I tried it a couple of times and it's useless because: A. Every album is vastly different than the other and you can't simply pick one and have it represent a whole genre, and B. Vaporwave is the farthest thing from any form of traditional music due to the heavy sampling, abundance of deteriorating sound effects and lack of the usual structure (verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus chorus).
And remember that normies ruin everything and you're better off keeping them away from anything you like, for its sake.

Liking any genre is fine, that's not the issue.
It's the types of people that for some reason think that what genre they like has to define who they are as a person.
So they replace their lack of a personality by hopping on a bandwagon or going full retard and driving the genre into the ground.
Vaporwave specifically, I'll still listen to occasionally. Just because normalfags caused an abundance of shit vaporwave
to pop up doesn't there wasn't originally some decent quality stuff.

But not for not liking it, because experimental stuff isn't really meant to sound good. Experimental stuff is meant to explore what one can do, sometimes it sounds good and sometimes it sounds shit. But it's quality isn't really measured by how it sounds, but by how creative the technique is. If it sounds good, there will probably be someone who'll apply it in a non-experimental way anyway.
bc1e3c No.63500
>>63498
Except the vaporwave technique is not that creative. There are some good experimental vaporwave artists out there but most of it is the classic "slowed-down Diana Ross songs" vaporwave cliché. That's why I don't like most of the experimental vaporwave out there.

But I really like some vaporwave
Now hear me out for a second
I like the old 80s to mid 90s synth T.V. bumper sounds, it makes me nostalgic for that era, and there's just something very vague and mysterious about the old VHS sounds that I like listening too, almost like I picked up some random VHS tape at some hole in the wall thrift store from some third world Soviet Block country and started listening to it
I like it for the same reason I like listening to Numbers Station recordings, just for the kind of vague industrial sounds
I don't like it as a serious genre to really get into though, don't get me wrong

nobody takes experimental music seriously, you're missing the point. Experimentation is exactly what it sounds like, and that's trying a fuckton of different sounds and melodic structures that you or perhaps nobody else has done before so you know what sounds good and what doesn't, that's it, otherwise you'd never know what you're capable of and are stuck making radio tunes for the rest of your sad life
522a37 No.65516
It seems retroactively worse and worse by the day because the field of focus slowly narrows. When it was in its heyday, it had many different styles and a lot of people experimenting with it. Music, art, style, even distribution differed for each artist. You knew it wasn't going to become some real genre but it was entertaining.
Then the innovators left and the only ones left were Mac+ clones and everyone concluded that vaporwave was dead.
Then the memers latched on and held up Mac+ like it was the fucking Holy Bible.
Now you're hard pressed to hear anything but that 420 song from it, the word AESTHETICS (they don't even bother with full width text which ruins the whole point), and pictures that rip off the album art.
