What do you faggots see in noise music? I can see the appeal of the genre, but I'm interested in what you guys think of it.

Pure autism.

>I can see the appeal

I can't.

Some people only listen to music that has vocalists. Instrumental music does not appeal to them, since there's no human there for them to identify with. However I think that we can agree that you can have music without vocals. But what does it mean for a sound to be music? If music doesn't need to have vocals, what else is optional for music? Do we need to have a beat, or a recognisable melody? Maybe all that's needed for sound to be considered music is for it to make you feel something. That's what noise is.

Welcome to dadaism and expressionism bruh (as for Merzbow it's both)

054be3 No.61086

I see it like all forms of seemingly-structureless music, like ambient, free jazz and other oddball shit like Nurse With Wound or whatever. There's plenty going on texture-wise and atmospherically. I tried typing a lot more, but I really don't know how to explain it. It's an acquired taste. I used to absolutely hate Sunn O))), and I thought people who listened to them were mentally ill (I was, like, 14). Then I listened to them a bunch, and I just sort of got it.

inb4 "Sunn O))) fans are mentally ill"

i just think it sounds cool. there's no deeper meaning and i don't think its profound, they're just interesting sounds that sound interesting.

i've always been a horror fan, so if it sounds creepy and unsettling then that's a plus. for instance, the first time i tried listening to this was in the dead of night in my pitch black house and it made me uncomfortable and nervous to the point that i felt compelled to turn the light on in my bedroom. i like art that can make me uncomfortable in that way

64589c No.63618

this is pretty much the most disturbing song i've ever heard and i fucking love it. i have no idea why i'm drawn to it, i just am.

then on the flipside there's this, which i wouldn't call "noise music" because i don't believe it qualifies as music, since it was not produced by an artist, but rather it is merely a recording of a natural phenomenon and it sounds exactly like noise music so i just treat it as such.

this is creepy and interesting but for entirely different reasons. somehow it is also relaxing. you're literally listening to sounds produced by a giant fucking planet, how can that not appeal to you?

ee929e No.63622

It's an acquired taste. Or some shit.

That means you listen to it over and over until you convince yourself that you like itI say that as someone who likes noise

000000 No.63624

The first thing I liked about noise was it's complete freedom coming from black metal where almost everyone follows the same rules and cliches. I also love the aesthetics of noise albums, especially the anonymous releases. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the design.

>I only listen to REAL MUSIC like Queen and The Doors

0795d3 No.63637

It's worse than nigger "music" somehow.

>noise has no vocals

>I have never heard of power electronics

>>63620

That falls under dark ambient.

ed3612 No.63682

It's noise that you turn into music. D'uh.

I like how some composers can evoke a sense of place with their stuff. Desert, ruins etc. It makes me have visual expiriences when I really get into it.

Beyoind that, though… Being 100% noise with no rhyme or reason to it is just ASMR in drag to me.
