Wow, looks like this thread needs some help..
The best thing about the NWOBHM is that there are so many bands you've never heard of. While plunging headlong into the 450+ bands will not yield a treasure trove of fantastic songs, there are some key songs and bands which your average Diamond Header knows nothing about.

I might make it seem like the NWOBHM is full of dozens, if not hundreds of excellent songs.
It's not. Almost all "NWOBHM" bands sound have the same generic early 80s guy voice and the songs just sound like 70s hard rock rehashes. Most of them shouldn't have even recorded. It's very disappointing.
