Is there such as thing as "early 2000s aesthetic"? Has anyone every tried doing a Vaporwave mix of Linkin Park, Gorillaz, or something like that?

>inb4 "early 2000s nostalgia? Fuck i'm getting too old for this board, u must be underage lol"

>inb4 "Holy shit the average age is 15"

I'm 21 you silly fucks. The early 2000s are practically oldfag territory at this point (2000 was 16 years ago); ask anyone under 19 if they know about the original Xbox, Pepsi Blue, old Newgrounds, or dial-up Internet. Chances are they'll say "lol, wat dat? #yolo #swag #vape #johncena #meme"

What would be some essential music to someone who is nostalgic about the early 2000s?

Already made my own thread but didn't see this one. Early 2000s (or just plain 2000s) nostalgia seems to be shaping a good part of "PC music". There's a hyper commercial, Disney Channel kind of vibe to it, recalling Kidz Bop, MTV/Vh1, or Hannah Montana. The cringier the tweenibopper music, the better it makes for PC Music source material.

Do you remember:

>Disney Channel

>Radio Disney

>Kidz Bop

>Infomercials, Infomercials, Infomercials

>MTV/Vh1 not playing music content anymore

>George W. Bush in good public standing

>McDonalds causing childhood obesity

>Family Guy

>Pre-movie SpongeBob

>Avril Lavigne

>Jessica Simpson

>Paris Hilton

>Gwen Stefani

>Gretchen Wilson

>Hannah Montana

>High School Musical

>That's so Raven

>Cory in the House

>TMZ

>Cribs

>Pimp My Ride

>50 Cent and other "glam" rappers

>Nickelback

>Limp Bizkit

>Linkin Park

>Green Day (after jumping the shark)

>Emos

>Screamo

>Slipknot

>Windows XP

>Newgrounds

>YouTube Poop in 240p made in Windows Movie Maker

>Adobe Flash in general

>AOL Instant Messenger

>Time for Kids in schools

>Pop Up Ads, Fake Contest Winner Banners, and Obnoxious Smileys yelling "SAY SOMETHING"

>Fox News

>Rich kids with huge houses doomed to foreclosure

>"Support our Troops" ribbons on Hummers

>9/11 in general

Because I sure do. It was one strange time to be alive. I'm not exactly nostalgic for any of this stuff. Whereas vaporwave inspires 90s nostalgia, PC music makes me feel shitty for not being born into a nostalgic decade. The 2000s will only ever be remembered as a time to look back and cringe at.

If you're looking for 2000s nostalgia I suggest you look into Vinesauce Joel's content on YouTube, specifically his Windows destruction videos.

This video is being a 2000s kid in a nutshell. Rich parents shelling out for a rock and roll tween fantasy for their completely talentless, cringeworthy children to "sing" about how idle they are.

Hopefully the recession gave these rich kids a reality check on their entitlement.

>Earlier things on that list, like Limp Bizkit and Avril, make me nostalgic in a cringe way

>But later things, like Hannah Montana and High School musical, make me cringe with no nostalgia.

Oddly, it seems like we all fell into a vortex around 2006-07ish that made everything "high-tech" and newfaggy. Other people seem to feel this way too.

Like, if someone on an Internet forum said "Man, I remember playing Sonic Heroes on my PS2 while watching Megas XLR and listening to the latest Blink-182 albums, good times, good times", hundreds other people would join in with him.

But then, if that guy said "Man, I miss playing Super mario galaxy on my Wii and listening to Justin Bieber, those were good times", the responses would've been "underage get out REEEE" - despite 2009 only being FIVE years away from 2004.

Why did the world become so "newfaggy" so fast? Did the Jews speed up the time Matrix?

I'm feeling weird lately, I'm having a 2000s nostalgia and now I see that /mu/ has it too. I saw American Pie on TV few weeks ago and it hit me hard how much time has passed. But I'm having a more mid-2000s nostalgia when I went to high school. I remember hating this song when it played everywhere and now I kind of miss it, especially compared to today's radio pop music. Anyone else feelin' me?

I'd imagine early 2010s aesthetic would be:

Horror let's players

Obscure horror games made in terror engine

Dubstep (Namely Skrillex and Deadmau5)

Doomsday prepping (even if it wasn't so big back then)

and possibly more shit

Man, why are you even on a music board if you can't correctly identify genres?
