I listened to the first disc of this today. I couldn't get into it. It is my first Swans album. I can't find something to enjoy while listening to the tracks. I like some parts but they're mixed in with all this yelling and there are many slow parts that I don't like a tall. Lots of weird noises that I don't care for. Should I try a different Swans album?

Try Filth, Children of God or Soundtracks for the Blind. They're (including To Be Kind) all pretty different.

You'll get it after a while, or not.

I definitely wouldn't start with Soundtracks.

It depends what kind of music you like, The Great Annihilator is probably the best place to start since it's really approachable and just rock really. Filth isn't a bad starting place either, though its a little harder since it's more of Swans normal sound.

Maybe Cop if you're down with sludge metal. Then there's the less synthetic stuff like Burning World or White Light From The Mouth of Infinity, if you prefer weird/experimental folk stuff

Most of the inaccessible shit that /mu/ listens to is an "acquired taste" aka you have to listen to it a few times before you can force yourself to like it.
