Videogames and their soundtracks have existed for a shorter amount of time and yet they have already surpassed any other music genre in every single aspect.
How is that even possible?

The old stuff was god tier, but the quality has declined since then due to composers becoming less constrained by the technology available to them.
By the way, nice copypasta, faggot.

Even when composers ripped people off, the results were often better than the originals. See all the house music that was ripped off by Yuzo Koshiro for the Streets of Rage soundtrack.

It's easy to make that conclusion when you've only heard the most popular examples. Isn't such a person who does that someone you call a plebeian?

Video game music is generally or was generally composed from a mixture of different elements of popular songs or songs the composer was fond of at the time, sometimes they don't even mix it and just outright use the song itself sampled over whatever device they were using, the most notorious example of this is the mother series where a great deal of the music is outright samples from songs by the beatles and the infamous icecap zone tune which is a sample of a theme by the jetzons (vid related).
To say they are superior to any genre of music is retarded.

Arguing that any genre can be better than the other (like saying apples are better than oranges) is just retarded in itself. Comparing the individual quality of each song in their respective genres is a different story.

Isn't this the case with most music? A composer will always draw inspiration from something.

You're talking out your ass. Vidya game music usually has (or had) more of an emphasis on melody than either of those styles, especially the Nip stuff since Eastern music traditionally has more of a melodic focus.
Also, power metal is trash and just about any run-of-the-mill shoot 'em up game will have more compelling tunes.

Nigger, Koji Kondo is typically considered to be the greatest video game musician and even he is mainly known for his melodies while he works with MIDI instruments and audio library samples. Even Shigeru Miyamoto can play more instruments than he can.
The point I'm trying to make is he was able to become so well known because in the land of generic Hans Zimmar score ripoffs and generic electronic tracks the one who can write melodies that stand out is king.

So what? The melodies are the main focus in his style of music.
>Even Shigeru Miyamoto can play more instruments than he can.
Who cares? He's known for his memorable compositions, not being a skilled performer.

You're completely clueless. What about Nobuo Uematsu, Yuzo Koshiro, Yasunori Mitsuda, David Wise, or Hip Tanaka, among many lesser known composers? You're conflating the old chip music with what came later. The limitations of the hardware of the pre-CD era encouraged composers to create strong melodies due to the limited numbers of channels to work with. The old style started giving way to more conventional music in the mid '90s, and even then there was good stuff coming out into the the last decade.
