I know what you mean, but it's more related to incompetence on the mixing process than any abstract notion of "clean" production

Rock and roll musicians took pretty much everything good about post-WWII blues and improved upon it, so I don't get the point of going back to that stuff.

The low-energy addle-daddle guitar work so common in the '70s and the latter part of the '60s largely turns me off to boomercore.

Songs where the lyrics don't match the sound. A good example of a popular song right now like this is "Monster" by Imagine Dragons. It sounds like a generic dance song. Even "Thriller" by Michael Jackson was a dance song but it actually sounded like what it was, it had a "Thrilling" vibe to it.

And while I'm on it, I just fucking hate Imagine Dragons in general. What the fuck even is "Believer"? The opening line "First things first…" And it's already apparent they just didn't give a fuck. And the music is lazy as fuck to, the entire track is pretty much a single drum line repeated over and over. And "Radioactive" literally just sounds like they tried to see how much pointless edginess they can pack into a single song "Its a revolution…radioactive…prison bus…the apocalypse…welcome to the new age…I feel it in my bones…" With no real reason or point or direction. God what a shitty band why do normalfaggots like this trash?

They make shallow music with enough tasteless production to fit in movie trailers and other advertisements that want to appear "emotional" or "intense", but just come off as bombastic and pretentious. I'm sure this trick works on a lot of people out there. Todd In The Shadows called it the "uncanny valley" of music and I have to agree with that label.

Samefag here

I just realized the song I was talking about was actually from Coleman Hell. I just didn't bother actually listening to who it was by when I looked it up. I know the Imagine Dragons song had a similar lyric and some of their songs do sound like generic dance songs anyways

Admittedly not a whole lot, but Sting's vocals don't take away from the backing track's impact on the climax; there's more to it than just whooping. >Remastered

Does anyone else just hate this concept entirely? If it's to restore something that was supposed to be in the original track(s) i.e. Jason Newsted's bass in AJFA, then go ahead, remaster to your heart's content. Similarly, any album whose original release was a casualty of the loudness war cough Californication cough deserves a second chance at mastering. But when artists go back and add shit that was never there in the first place, or even worse remove stuff that was there (the entire second half of Hero's Return from The Final Cut - vid related) for time/content related reasons, that's when I feel there's no need for it. Just give me the fucking album the way people heard it on the day of its original release and let live.
