Made this recently for an Adam Audio competition. I personally think it could be better, but 30 seconds is a short timeframe to work with. I would probably like to explore production of short songs (:30 - 1:45) more.

Hey guys, If you're just beginning, this is the thread for you.

Here's a good intro video that explain alot in a short amount of time.

That depends on how nuanced you need it. Really good sounding guitars all have a distinct feature: they sound human. Note's aren't played exactly quantized, you can hear them moving their hands on the strings, and even the same note played on a different string will have a different timbre.

Samplers like Kontakt do a very good job of this on occasion, but there's really no substitute for someone actually playing the instrument, and that goes for all instruments.

I've like 7 original songs almost done but with my pc is impossible to mix them and I have to wait until I get a new pc :/
The kuaga remix was mixed with a friends laptop just if you were wondering

So yeah normally when it comes to 4chans general /mu/ I would never dare share anything I've made or done because nearly everyone there has become judgmental scum, but here you go. It's a bit of a mix of your standard EDM bullshit but there's odds and in's in here. Hope some people like it! And if you're interested feel free to buy it! (Money rules and having no job sucks) Soundcloud is also provided.

That's the reason I started this board dude, I don't care what music you're into, I just want to help you get better

Listened to ID - I like the idea, although must say, a little uninspired, i do like the variations of others synths towards the end. I like the old ID project lower down too, maybe fuse the two?

Cosmic has a nice progression, but it seems to fall flat. The lead needs more of a sparkle, try adding some highs and perhaps pulsing it a bit more for more drive

File select music is fucking awesome, I cant finger what game its from though

The production of your music is good, you obvs know a thing or two, mixdown is quite good, im just trying to nitpick some things so you can improve

Welcome to this shitty fucking board, advertise the shit out of it

Hey man, just listened to a bunch of your tracks and you make some really great music. Everything sounds high quality and well put together. The arrangements and progression is also top.

Still, with most tracks there's something missing, but I can't put my finger on it yet. It's like you're overdoing on something, or leaving out something else, but I can't figure out what it is exactly. At first I thought it was perhaps too much reverb, because the music sounds distant, but it could just as well be that you're putting to much emphasis on everything in the middle and high, but not enough on the low.

Or it could be something else altogether, but like I said, it sounds a bit distant/empty/backgroundish. Even though the tracks are technically fine.

It should be a small thing to fix really, but I think it can make a huge difference for the listener if you manage to get the overall sound closer/fuller.

The dubstep WIP track doesn't have this problem at all btw, if that helps get the idea. It's very present.

Anyway, keep it up! I like your style of music.

I want to start putting my music on the internet. should I send it to the copyright office. Or just start putting it on the internet.

And if someone steals my song what should I do?

Always always ALWAYS copyright before releasing
Especially on the inter webs for cheap or free

You automatically own the copyrights of your creations. If there's such a thing as a "copyright register" online, it's just a way of proving you claimed the copyrights first.

Just general discussion about the mau5' style, equipment, vst's or other plug ins, shit like that.

I really enjoy his style and ability to use repetition of extremely minimalistic ideas in a way that isn't annoying to the listener.

Anybody have any input?

3e275b No.389

I dont like his style, his minimalistic crap, or his attitude about himself or other genres

I like maybe 2 of his songs, but honestly, he thinks his music is better than it is.

My favourite moment was when he shat all over hardstyle, saying it was easy and that he could make a track in an hour, and then attempted it on live stream. He couldnt even make a kick, embarrassed himself in front of 100,000s of viewers

7a6d76 No.191[Reply]

So, what's a good place to get started with using DAWs?

I don't mean the basics of music making, or anything, I've done my share of composition on paper, but just, actually using the software?

I own the Cakewalk products, SONAR and Music Creator, and the interface seems really obtuse and even finding the instruments I want to work with is difficult, though I do own them.

Any tips or suggestions?
Cakewalk's own tutorials seem to be for other versions of their software, and skip around too much, and I haven't been able to find much independently when it comes to the 'actually using the program' as opposed to 'how to make music'.

Hey, does anyone know how to link the knobs on my midi controller to the controls on a VST?

7bfcb4 No.384

>>372
Should be a midi learn function in the vst. Click midi learn, sometimes its a buttons, you press that, then the knob you want to control, then your physical knob, and other times its a right click on the desired knob.

Is hardware absolutely necessary for electronic music production? Not EDM per se, just producing it electronically. I'm very poor and can only dream of buying things even as simple as a decent keyboard…

bro all I have is my laptop, a daw, and a shitload of sample packs from torrents. First learn your daw play with it, as you progress you start adding things like keyboards/pads/etc… One thing I would highly recommend to get first are good headphones/speakers, everything else comes after.

NI Massive used to be my main synth but now I used a lot Sylenth1 and Reveal Sound's Spire

9b597a No.297

This is kind of off-topic, but has anyone here tried the Ableton Push?

I'm considering whether or not it's worth the cost for one as an FL Studio fag who's done everything by mouse and keyboard for years and can't physically play an instrument.

fa1c05 No.300

>>297
Neber used ableton Push, but im pretty sure its not a replacement for mouse/keyboard. You still need those for composition and arrangement. Push is just a sample pad

9b597a No.373

>>300
From what I've heard you barely even need to touch your mouse and keyboard at all with the Push.

Since I wrote that post, I ended up buying a $50, 26-key MIDI controller and it seems to have ended my creative drought.
