how do I start making music? I tried torrenting FL Studio but it seems to be the demo version

can someone provide me with links/advice? I like all genres and I just want to learn where to start

I mostly need links if you can provide them

What type of stuff are you hoping to produce?

We need to know what kind of stuff you'd like to produce in order to help

also here's FL

making music

depends on what you want to do :)

Same anon, when I was starting out I tried to do everything which I would not recommend one bit. Find a genre or a style you want to keep at and keep going for a year or so until you've got the beginning of a grasp on how the genre's shit works. If you're switching between a prog house and a dubstep project you're gonna find yourself overwhelmed with everything you're meant to be taking in.

For me personally, first I had to learn not to add too much, both composition and mixing wise. And then learn not to cut things too much with vicious EQing and whatnot. Hopefully this'll make more sense to you down the track.

I guess I'd start with electronic since it doesn't require live instrumentation and I can just sample

oh and I think this was one of the torrents I tried, it's just that when I opened it up it says it's the demo version, can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong there?

Did you use the registry file?

Before you even think about making music you should probably figure out how to pirate something correctly.

This kid has posted on every music board on 8chan asking the same thing, and theyve all told him that.

Also OP, i downloaded that torrent and installed it. it works fine. Full version and everything. I dont know how you could have fucked it up

chill, I figured it out a while ago

I don't ever torrent

well for one, when torrenting: always read the .txt or .nfo files first. ching liu always has the best instructions. if you haven't already, you'll want to double click the reg keys for fl studio. also, be careful with opening a file before it has been cracked(unless otherwise instructed). sometimes it makes it impossible to crack, to the point where you'll have delete it and install it again. just general software pirated tips.

Download Reason and read the manual. I don't use Reason anymore so it's not bias, it's really good at teaching you the fundamentals of electronic music and doubles as a lesson in how a hardware studio works. The interfaces of the synths and samplers are cross intuitive with many other vsts and hardware.
