That's pretty sweet. Maybe they just go through every possible piece of studio equipment and ask themselves if and how they can make it digital.

Not that impressive, Gibson's "robot guitars" have been able to do this (and automatically retune the guitar) for ages. This really isn't too difficult if you look at the fundamental tones with a large sample size FFT readout.
