 No.339227

One morning in 2007, Leah DuBuc, a twenty-two-year-old college student in Kalamazoo, began writing an essay for English class that she hoped would save her life. She knew that people like her had been beaten, bombed, shot at, killed. The essay aired details about her past that she’d long tried to suppress; by posting it on her class’s server, where anyone who Googled her name could find it, she thought she might be able to quiet the whispers, the threats, and possibly make it easier to find a job. Her story, she warned, “is not a nice one, but hopefully it will have a happy ending.”

DuBuc had grown up in Howell, Michigan, a small town of berry and melon farmers. In high school, she had thrived. She had earned straight A’s, written for the school newspaper, led Students Against Driving Drunk (she voted to change the name to Students Against Destructive Decisions, she says, to stress that “there are lots of bad decisions that can get you killed”), and performed in “Grease” and “Once Upon a Mattress,” while working part time as a cashier at Mary’s Fabulous Chicken & Fish. “High school was bliss for me,” DuBuc said recently. “I tried not to dwell on the stuff that wasn’t good.” But, as she was about to start her freshman year at Western Michigan University, she got a call from a close childhood friend, Victoria, who asked, “Did you know you’re on the public sex-offender registry?”

Her friend, who had just given birth to a baby girl, had logged on to the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry Web site to search for local predators. She had entered her Zip Code, and there was Leah’s face—her copper bangs, her wide cheeks, her brown eyes staring blankly from the photograph. Her name, weight, and height were listed; so was the address where she’d grown up, playing beneath tall pines and selling five-cent rocks that she’d painted with nail polish. Something DuBuc had done at the age of ten had caught up with her. Victoria knew the story, which DuBuc described as “play-acting sex,” in elementary school, with her younger step-siblings. Online browsers would see only the words on the page: “CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT.”

A 10 year old girl pulled down a boys pants and she is now a sex offender.

Convincing a 10-year old to plead guilty to a higher crime so that she may leave her home in absence of any guardian is pretty fucking deplorable. A 10-year old isn't going to be able to figure out what's really at stake or what such a deal truly means for her.

The meat of the story is that the court and legal system is flawed, and that part is absolutely rock solid.

Children are treated like criminals in America. I remember how I got in some serious trouble over the littlest of shit. Some kid got cussed out because he took his paper out of a trash can after it fell in by mistake.

During middle school it's like the staff is pure autism and every child is the spawn of satan, but during high school no one gives a shit.

I would love to go back to middle school with who I am now just to tell them off. People are beginning to blame the staff instead of the children because of this shit, and I don't blame them. I would do the same if I had a child in school.

We could fix them but it would require too much effort for the masses at be. These masses that live in our country are far too lazy and scared to do anything about this. These are the same masses that swallowed this pedo scare bullshit thus they are too apathetic to this corruption of the system.

These are the same masses that lay their kids at the fate of our society and government to parent them. There are few like us that don't fall for it but we can't change them all. It's insane to think about how far this corruption of our systems are but we are talking about this one.

Think about it, these kids got pushed through the whole system without anyone saying a word to this injustice. A public prosecutor had to prosecute them or give them a plea deal. A judge most likely made a verdict on this. The parents of the "victim" actively pressed charges. And the media most likely didn't report on this. And this shit happens more commonly than we would like to know.

This apathy, puritanism, and corruption of this one system of law spreads very deep. We need to tear it down and rebuild. But you can't do that while the masses are too pacified or plain dumb. We would need to somehow hard or shake the masses out of this trance they are in.

>>340063

I don't think it's just to do with anger, so much as the need to feel superior to someone. America is a society built by winners, for winners. It's obsessed with the division between winner and loser (just look at Trump). Except that the vast majority of ordinary people can't be winners - by definition most people end up in the middle of the pack. But they still want to pretend that they're winners, so they do it by empathising with the winner's perspective - if they can relate to a winner, they must in some sense be a winner themselves. It's basic pack mentality - agreeing with winners makes them feel like part of the group. Thus you get schmucks working minimum wage voting for a party that wants tax cuts for billionaires.

So when they hear about someone's misfortune, they instinctively avoid empathising with those people, because those people are clearly losers and they don't want to feel like a loser feels. Because that's what empathy is - you feel like another person feels. And the last thing any American wants to do is feel like a loser.

Some people don't have healthcare? Screw 'em, they must be lazy. Some people are homeless? They're probably drug addicts. And if they can invent excuses to avoid feeling for people who've suffered through no fault of their own, they can sure as hell justify cruelty towards people who they feel have actually done something wrong. And the cruelty becomes important in itself, because it signals how far removed the person is from the object of the cruelty. Why do you think people post shit on facebook like 'we should skin pedophiles alive'? They're saying: look at how not a pedophile I am. If I had any empathy at all for pedophiles I wouldn't be able to say that, so the fact that I don't means I am very far removed from them.

Of course, that's a nice theory, and I'm pretty sure there's a strong element of truth to it, but its far more complex than that. It's no accident that this shit started under the baby-boomers, for example. They were raised in the post-war boom years, when it was pretty easy to get a good job and life if you weren't a fuckup, and if people got unlucky anyway everything got swept under the carpet because there was a lot of stigma attached to failure. So it's partly unintentional; they just don't understand how bad things can happen to good people, because their whole childhood they were indoctrinated with the dogma that America was the land of opportunity were anyone could make it if they worked hard enough. So they grew up with a far less developed sense of empathy, compared to Europeans who mostly lived in harsh conditions immediately after WW2 and knew that hunger and pain could be just around the corner, no matter who you were.

Anger is a big part of it though. Pedophiles have become an accepted target to dump everybody's suppressed rage on; you see that in countries all around the world, not just America. But America's 'justice' system is unique in its callousness (in first world countries), and I think that really can be explained by an underdeveloped sense of empathy.

Very interesting view. Tell me, in your opinion how can this "winner mentality" synergize and coexist with the white male guilt/hate that seems so popular lately, specially among our "educated", privileged betters?

>>340123

If you think about it for a minute, you can see its quite narcissistic to view yourself as responsible for every problem in the world. To accept the social justice viewpoint as a white male, you have to accept on some level that you are part of an all-powerful group, the ubiquitous controlling force in American (or indeed global) life. The core tenet of SJWs is that white males can NEVER be losers. Even a homeless, disabled, under-educated, alcoholic white male is still more privileged that any black person. The kind of men who go in for social justice get a perverse satisfaction from 'admitting' how powerful they are.

Of course, that's just the white male side of it, and white men are a minority on the left. For women and ethnic minorities you don't need a lot of complicated psychology: it's a flat out supremacy movement. According to their beliefs, white men only seem to be better because they stole all the many achievements of women and minorities.

The second thing you have to consider is that charity can be an expression of power. After all, if you give a lot away, you must have a lot to start off with. It's not an accident that left-wing views in America are concentrated in the upper middle classes, while the white working classes mostly votes republican. The upper class can advocate things like mass immigration and affirmative action because they will never have to feel its effects - it's never their neighbourhood that gets flooded with foreigners, its never their children that get denied a place at university to make way for minorities, and its never them who lose their jobs to immigrants. The standard complaint is that immigrants and minorities are taking people's jobs - but that's an admission of weakness, which is a total taboo in America. By supporting charity to minorities and immigrants, the left signals that they are part of the privileged class that doesn't have to worry about the consequences of such policies. (In fact, not only doesn't have to worry about the consequences but actually benefits - as the price of basic labour drops as immigrants flood the market, they have access to cheaper maids, gardeners, nannies, etc.) And they don't need to signal their in-group feeling with the super-wealthy, because they are already pretty confident in their wealth and power.

take this pic, for example. Upper middle class liberals might feign interest in the plight of the poor, but under the surface - and trust me, I say this as someone who grew up in a left-leaning upper middle class area - they have nothing but contempt for the working class and lower middle classes. Even here in relatively compassionate Europe, I still knew people who would be all sympathetic about immigrants and then turn around and say that working class whites were lazy welfare scroungers. From what I've seen, middle class Americans really HATE the white working class.

another good pic explaining the left's view of white working class Americans

btw, it's also not an accident that mass immigration started in the 80s. In the 70s, the unions were really powerful and the gap between rich an poor had never been smaller; all the older generation were still able to remember the Great Depression in the 30s, and before that when 'worker's rights' was an oxymoron, so they valued things like social security and strong union membership. The 80s, however, was the decade when the baby-boomers came of age politically. They didn't remember why people had wanted big government and unions in the first place, so they stripped away a lot of the support structure for the working classes. Reagan took care of the government programs, but how do you destroy a union? By shipping in non-union workers - in this case Mexicans.

This article is pretty good, it's worth reading in it's entirety.

For example, one point it explains the slippery slope that led to this (an important thing to remember when people call for giving the government more power; say, a backdoor to an iPhone, assuming they're only going to use it against terrorists):

>If the sex-offender registry is a modern development, the impulse behind it—to prevent crimes by keeping tabs on “bad actors”—is not. In 1937, after the sexualized murders of several young girls in New York, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia called for the police to keep a secret list of “all known degenerates.” A decade later, California built the first database of sex offenders, for private use by the police. But the practice of regulation took off only in the nineteen-nineties, when a tragedy changed the public’s sense of the stakes involved.

>One evening in 1989, in the quiet town of St. Joseph, Minnesota, Patty and Jerry Wetterling set out for dinner at a friend’s house, leaving their eleven-year-old son, Jacob, at home with two of his siblings and a friend. Just after sundown, three of them left on their bikes and scooters to rent movies. Returning home, the kids came upon a masked gunman, who grabbed Jacob and chased off the others with death threats. Frantic searches followed, to no avail. Investigators didn’t know the abductor’s motivation, but feared that it was sexual. Afterward, Patty Wetterling kept returning to the question of what might have helped the police find her son’s abductor during those critical early hours. Officials told her that what they needed was a unified database of local residents who had sex-crime convictions. Wetterling went on to fight for such a registry—first in Minnesota, and then nationally. In 1994, she helped win the first federal mandate that all states create a database of people convicted of violent sex crimes or crimes against children. It was known as the Jacob Wetterling Act. “Initially, this was supposed to be a private law-enforcement tool,” Patty Wetterling told me. “I was one of those people who thought, Once a sex offender, always a sex offender, and my view was: Lock ’em up and send ’em away, forever and ever.”

>The act marked the first in a series of sex-registry laws, mostly named after nightmarish “stranger danger” cases. Megan’s Law, passed in 1996, required that states make their registries accessible to the public. Jessica’s Law, and its variants, established long mandatory minimum sentences for first-time offenders convicted of sex crimes against children, and stipulated that certain offenders be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring after their release. Particularly consequential was the crusade of John Walsh, the host of “America’s Most Wanted” and the father of a six-year-old boy who, in 1981, was abducted inside a shopping mall and beheaded. Walsh lobbied for the most sweeping set of changes to date: the Adam Walsh Act. It broadened the scope of the sex-offender registry, mandating the full disclosure of a former offender’s address, along with a photograph, and more; promulgated a form of indefinite detention, known as “civil commitment”; and, in a late addition to the bill, required that children as young as fourteen who had committed certain sex offenses be placed on the public registry. Jurisdictions that refused to comply would lose federal funds.

 No.340861

>In 2005, Patty Wetterling travelled to Washington, D.C., with other grieving parents, to support an early version of the bill. “We will not tolerate sexual violence against our children,” she said at a press conference. An amendment adding certain juvenile offenders to the federal bill had been spurred by the devastating testimony of a teen-ager named Amie Zyla; at the age of eight, Zyla had been sexually abused by another youth, who had gone on to reoffend years later. “We cannot sit back and allow kids to continue to be hurt,” Zyla told Congress. “The simple truth is that juvenile sex offenders turn into adult predators.” On July 27, 2006, George W. Bush signed the Adam Walsh Act into law.

Do you people not understand what's going on with these posts? This is not unlike a…….a drumhead trial.

>Anon, the hell are you talking about?

Over 200 years ago, military officers would upund a drum on the battlefield and dispense summary justice. Decisions were quick, punishments severe, APPEALS DENIED. Those who came to a drumhead were doomed.

>But anon, we know Person A downloaded kiddie porn.

Did he go out of his way to hurt a child?

>No. But he could have.

Oh no. We can't allow ourselves to think like that. We have thrown too many people in prison for actions these sick men and women did not witness. Unless these people sexually molested these children, or there is evidence they produced these pictures and movies, these people need therapy. Not prison.

We need to reserve the jail cells for child pornographers and for anybody who's raped any man, woman or child.

>And Person B has hurt children too, I'm sure.

How?

>He admitted to being sexually attracted to children

That is not a crime! Nor can you infer his guilt, just because he is a pedophile. Unless he acts on his desire to have sexual contact with a child, the criminal justice system cannot yet be involved.

Whether it's this situation, or someone has made fictional stories or drawings about children in sexual situations, it's not your place to punish those individuals for it. You cannot take fundamental elements of the constitution and turn them against citizens just so you can FEEL safe!

>but these offender laws and registries are here to protect our children. There are sickos everywhere! WE MUST SEEK THEM OUT TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN!

Oh yes. That's how it starts. But the road from legitimate suspicion, to rampant paranoia is much closer than you think.

Something is very wrong here. I don't like what we've become.

Shit this hits to close to home. This same shit almost happened to me. I was in elementary school and one of my perverted fiends grabbed my hand from behind and physically forced me to touch a girls butt that was in front of me. The girl told the teacher and everything was hell that week. I was consistently threatened to be put on the sex offender registry and to be forced into a child military punishment program. It was fucking surreal not just for the fact it wasn't my damn fault its for the fact that they would do this to a fucking child. Anyway I told them what happened and had to constantly explain myself until they believed my cause the kid who grabbed my hand was a little shit. It still isn't fair at all for him though, he was a kid, kids do stupid stuff, he shouldn't have had his life ruined because of that.

>The discovery of Heinrich took place a few months after Wetterling’s retirement as the director of Minnesota’s Sexual Violence Prevention Program. Just before stepping down, Wetterling had overseen the publication of a remarkable legislative report, titled “Sexual Violence Prevention,” which maps out a public-health response to rape, incest, and childhood sexual assault. It calls for “taking on the root causes like alcohol and drug use, emotionally unsupportive family environments, and societal norms that support male superiority and sexual entitlement.”

This is why, unless these people can prove they are sane, or aren't obsessed, we need to ban victims of personal tragedies from being involved in movements like this. Including, and especially sexual assault/rape/molestation victims.

John, Marc, and Patty, along with the MDA, and MADD crowd, are grieving parents who had their world rocked so hard by the deaths of their children, they become insane(let's use mad, for all intents and purposes) from grief, and don't even truly allow themselves to grieve and move on from their child's death.

They do all these movements for so many years…they still have their families and/or other children. Yet John, Marc or Patty pay no attention to them. In John's case, he did AMW for about over 10 years. He wound up later committing adultery, and divorcing his first wife. These people are so mad with grief, fame, and power, that they forget why they're even doing these things in the first place. You see, there's a type of forgetfulness that comes with madness.

 No.341845

>>341835

(cont.)

As for the molestation/rape victims, they suffer a similar effect.

Let's say, for the sake of argument that these people were abused as children. What do people who suffer emotional, physical, or sexual abuse have in common? It all spawns primarily to MENTAL abuse. The problem with people who were mentally abused as children, is that now, they want to abuse everybody else around them when they become adults in order to get even with people—to make themselves FEEL big—even though we're not their enemy.

And they continue to engage in this and do the same thing that the John Walsh crowd does. Why? Because they're sick. Because they're mentally ill, and they need help.
