I'm all for concealed carry. Hell, I'm all for open carry.

But you should have to pass certifications. You need to be tested by officers at a gun range (NOT by government bureaucrats who hate firearms) to ensure you're capable of drawing and holstering without shooting yourself in the thigh/foot, to make sure you have trigger discipline and awareness of your surroundings, and to make sure you can shoot accurately to the same standard they hold police (which is a fucking low standard btw - cops aren't required to shoot very well at all).

Not every swinging dick should be allowed to walk around with a gun. I can think of a lot of redneck idiots I know who would NOT be safe walking around with a pistol on their hip. And I've seen an awful lot of strangers at my gun range put holes in the ceiling of the pistol bay, as well as put bullets into the reinforced glass partitions along the counter.

You need a drivers license because cars are dangerous.

My state has its CCW permits issued by the Department of Agriculture so police don't have access to the list. Leftist cities were pressuring the cops to run license plates to see if the driver had a CCW, then pull them over and harass them.
