Three influential leaders in the conservative movement have summoned other top conservatives for a closed-door meeting this Thursday in Washington D.C. to talk about how to stop Donald Trump and, should he become the Republican nominee, how to run a third-party “true conservative” challenger in the fall.

The organizers of the meeting include Bill Wichterman, who was President George W. Bush’s liaison to the conservative movement, Bob Fischer, a South Dakota businessman and longtime conservative convener, and Erick Erickson, the outspoken Trump opponent and conservative activist who founded RedState.com.

"Please join other conservative leaders to strategize how to defeat Donald Trump for the Republican nomination,” the three wrote in an invitation obtained by POLITICO that recently went out to conservative leaders, "and if he is the Republican nominee for president, to offer a true conservative candidate in the general election."

It's not about a Republican or even a conservative winning the election. It's about an insider winning. They'd prefer any insider to Trump.

Trump is pretty much calling out Soros and his gang, and all the media outlets, etc. and basically accusing them of collusion with the intent to incite violence. Surely such an act of conspiracy goes much further than just standard fare political bait and switch tactics.

If true, then this is clearly stepping over into the realm of Constitutional violation, notably against the 1st amendment but likely other areas as well imo.

I don't think the general population will be very inclined to vote for a third party candidate. I guess these people have decided that Trump supporters are simply following a fad, rather than voicing their anger at the status-quo in Washington. If so, they are definitely wrong. This is a solid grassroots movement that won't be going away during this election as long as Trump is leading the charge.
