Announce and discuss stream events here!
Finally, a place for all things livestream.
• Announce streams and their details
• Discuss the promotion of streams (you probably want to consult >>30 for hostile boards)
• Discuss, past, present, and future streams
• Ask for interest in a potential stream, or fish for streaming ideas
The stream under discussion does not have to be yours, but please try to keep to one thread per stream (obviously excepting those that hit the bump limit). Also, please don't bump for visibility alone unless the stream is HAPPEN NOW or has fallen off of Page 1. If you actually have something to say, bumping is fine.
Any type of realtime stream is fair game, regardless of the content. This does not include content people can download, unless it is a duplicate of something transmitted originally in realtime. (So if you want to tell people about the downloadable version of a stream that already ran, that's fine. If you're a podcaster who only does downloadables, that's not on-topic.)
I realize this includes some potential "moral hazards", so please note if your stream is "adult", or mixed content.
Do not hijack existing threads. If you oppose something, fine, but start your own thread and shill your stream there.
/grim/ HORROR MOVIE NIGHT
Greetings /nacht/, >>>/grim/ here.
As has been posted here >>182 I'm doing horror streams this month on the weekends. As promised, I'm posting here to confirm that they're going down tonight and tomorrow. Apologies for the short notice, or if I fucked up the UTC times.
This week we're starting off in the beginnings of horror, with the German Expressionist film movement and the classic Universal Studios films inspired by them:

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - 20:00 PST (UTC - 7:00)
15 min break
Nosferatu - 21:30 PST (UTC - 7:00)
15 min break
Vampyr - 23:20 PST (UTC - 7:00)
Classic Universal Horror: 10/10/15
Dracula - 20:00 PST (UTC - 7:00)
15 min break
Frankenstein - 21:40 PST (UTC - 7:00)
15 min break
The Black Cat - 22:05 PST (UTC - 7:00)
Check out this thread for the full schedule, and feel free to post suggestions for movies for the weeks following the next one (I still haven't decided entirely yet on what to stream for the 30th and 31st):

You're welcome to stop by.
INTIMIDATION GAME
Greetings fellow K.O.B.S players, this is Acid Rain speaking.
Tonight, to mark the first anniversary of >>>/redchanit/, we will be watching the Law and Order SVU episode "Intimidation Game".
TIME:
11pm GMT
12am UK Time
7pm EST
6pm CST
5pm MST
4pm PST
AT: https://cytu.be/r/acidrain
NO GAMER GIRLS ALLOWED
New age for /nacht/
Hello /nacht/ we at http://magestream.org/ have a few former users of this board and we wish to revive the weekly stream marathons tradition and more so from now on streams will be happening on our site but everything else will stay the same
Hostile boards
This is a single purpose thread. Here, list boards that have been hostile to stream invitations, along with the specific reason they are worthy of being excluded from all further contact.
• /fit/ - hostile shitposting, no support.
• /mu/ - hostile shitposting, no support. (And after all I've done to participate there.)
• /co/ - deleted thread.
• /int/ - deleted thread.
• /loli/ - deleted thread.
• /a/ - deleted thread (of /grim/).
• /pol/ - shitposting chat (can't shut up, everything is "the Jews did this!")
• /pone/ - see attached graphic. If they can't understand why a stream operator might need to protect himself against impersonation, fuck them.
Other boards not to contact:
• /amp/, /dsx/ - low attendance, and a permanent message pointing them at /nacht/ should they be interested. (This does not apply if your stream is on topic.)
Note that since promotion of streams is up to the discretion of the operator(s), this is not a rule. You can ignore this list completely if you like. This is just here as advance warning, so if you go to one of the above and get treated badly, don't say we didn't warn you.
Animation Night Preference Poll: Round 1
I've been wanting an animation night to happen for some time, whether it be that I stream it or someone else does. But I don't know what kind of films people would want to see. So in this poll are a couple animated films that not everyone will think of immediately, you can choose 4 films.
Considering I would be streaming on toaster that disconnects periodically, the results will be more of a reference sheet if someone else decides to pick it up.
Tutorials and testing
This thread is for sharing tutorials and to hold testing streams, where you are free to commit rookie mistakes. So, ask anything and everything about streams you never dared to ask before!
Just don't ask me. All I know is that Open Broadcast Software should be more than sufficient for the job, and it's the farthest away from malware. Oh, and you need to register on a site to stream. Don't even think about Twitch! Even if you want to stream vidya, that cancer is way too mainstream for us.
And if you've figured out the theory, and want to practice, then we could try to arrange a test stream here. The board is not that big right now, but I'm sure that if nothing else, you can run one before someone else's stream.
Maybe run the first movie of the next movie night. If you fail at it, somebodyMal-2 can still run it instead of you. And if you succeed, then congratulations, you've run out of excuses! So go on, and stream!
Shock(ing) Films theme. Nominate and vote now!
I'm going to open this one up earlier, to allow more time for voting. and hopefully get more votes. These films may not all be shocking by current standards (though most are), but they were when they were released at the very least.
• Antfarm Dickhole
• Beyond the Darkness
• Boxing Helena
• Emanuelle In America
• Faces of Death
• Gummo
• Human Centipede
• I Spit On Your Grave
• Martyrs
• Philosophy of a Knife (double-length, counts as two votes)
• The Piano Teacher
• Salo, or The 120 Days of Sodom
• Santa Sangre
• A Serbian Film
Please leave a comment below with up to five choices. If you want, you can throw two votes at one movie, but you may only do this once and it counts double against your allotment of five (pick only three others). Also, if you choose Philosophy of a Knife, this counts as two movies because of its length so only choose three others.
Write-ins are welcome! If you wish to change your vote later (which you might want to do, based on someone's write-in), make sure to quote the post you're changing. The ID will confirm that it's really you. If you post from multiple locations or networks, you may need to use a tripcode to prove that it's you.
Voting closes Thursday, September 24 at 0700 UTC (midnight Pacific, 3 am Eastern).
Tiebreaking procedure: Add 0.1 votes to anything I picked. If there are still too many to form a clean cut at five, then add 0.1 votes to the next voter's picks. Repeat as necessary with subsequent voters until there are five movies clearly chosen.
ᴇᴅɪᴛ: Cut-off changed to September 24, since next weekend goes to >>>/bane/.
Now what?
What should we look into for the next movie night theme?
• Kaiju
• Action
• Universal (Monsters. Invisible Man, Wolf Man, Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein)
• Comedy
• Horror (non-Zombie)
• Zombie
…something else we haven't thought of yet
A theme doesn't have to be a topic or genre, it could be another common thread like an actor or a director. Spill it!
Join /cyber/ for a movie night every week
Sup /nacht/, /cyber/ here,

Please leave a comment below with up to five choices. If you want, you can throw two votes at one movie, but you may only do this once and it counts double against your allotment of five (pick only three others).

Repeat as necessary with subsequent voters until there are five movies clearly chosen. This means people who vote early have slightly more influence than those that vote later, but those that vote later can make sure they don't waste a vote on a "loser", so I think it evens out.

Drugs have been part of the human experience forever, as they will remain, for both good and ill.
Filling the chat with MST3K-style riffing and snarking about the films is not only allowed, it is expected.

This is a bit of an experiment in non-promotion. I have only notified these boards:

and I'll notify >>>/b/ the morning of, if I remember. There is no point in doing it right now, it'll just age off.

including 15 minute breaks between all films. All credits will run completely, but at several times the normal speed when possible.
Where:
When:
Saturday, 2015/08/08 at 2200 UTC (3 pm Pacific or 6 pm Eastern), though the music will start two hours prior to this.

The official thread can be found here: >>>/eris/686
syncplay
What is it?
Syncplay is a program that allows you to watch movies in time with other people. It's like streaming but it's not hampered by latency, because the file is held in everyone's computer. It works across all platforms and with all popular movie players.
Why use it?
Syncplay has numerous advantages over streaming. For one, it allows everyone to watch an HD version of the movie in perfect sync regardless of their internet connection. For another, it doesn't use flash, which is riddled with security holes.
How do I use it?
Syncplay requires a server to run, and I believe the server must be on a linux machine. I can probably get my friend to let us use their server, but I think it would be better if we got someone from the community to host an all-8ch server. It's not complicated at all.
FOR STREAMERS:
1. publish a torrent containing all the movies you want to show, about 5 hours before the stream starts
2. run syncplay with the appropriate settings, log into the server and create a room for your movie night
3. all done
FOR WATCHERS:
1. download the torrent before the stream starts
2. run syncplay with the appropriate settings, log into the server and the room for the stream
3. all done
If you agree with me that we should use syncplay instead of livestreamer.net or something, head over to syncplay.pl and get started. Webm not related.
/nacht/ Dystopian Future Movie Night, August 1
This Saturday, 2015/08/01 at 2200 UTC (3 pm Pacific, 6 pm Eastern), I will screen:
• 2200 Death Race 2000
• 2334 They Live
• 0121 A Clockwork Orange
• 0351 Mad Max
• 0536 Dredd
-=Program Repeats=-
• 0721 Death Race 2000
• 0856 They Live
• 1042 A Clockwork Orange
• 1312 Mad Max
• 1558 Dredd
-=Program Ends 1628=-
including 15 minute breaks between all films. All credits will run completely, but at three to five times the normal speed.
Where:
When:
Saturday, 2015/08/01 at 2200 UTC (3 pm Pacific, 6 pm Eastern), though the music will start two hours prior to this.
Why:
Because the future is going to suck, all that's left to argue about is how it's going to suck.
Filling the chat with MST3K-style riffing and snarking about the films is not only allowed, it is expected.
Cult movie night, July 25/26
This Saturday, 2015/07/25 at 2200 UTC (3 PM Pacific, 6 pm Eastern), I will screen:
• Can Dialectics Break Bricks?
• The Toxic Avenger
• Zardoz
• Cannibal! The Musical
• The Dark Knight Rises
with 15 minute breaks between all films. A complete schedule is attached.
This is not formally anyone's movie night, since I'm just picking cult favorites and running them for the amusement of whoever wants to stop in.
Where:
When:
Saturday, 2015/07/25 at 2200 UTC (3 PM Pacific, 6 pm Eastern), though the stream will start THREE hours prior to this. The entire stream, except for the first hour of lead-in music, will repeat 12 hours later, mostly for the benefit of Eastern Europe.
Why:
Because you have nothing better to do, and three of these are at least moderately funny while the other is bretty gud.
Notes: Can Dialectics Break Bricks? is thoroughly potato-looking, but it is better than anything you're going to find on TPB. At least this one is in color and has legible subtitles.
Filling the chat with MST3K-style riffing and snarking about the films is not only allowed, it is expected.
