b52a71 No.184

Greetings /nacht/, >>>/grim/ here.

As has been posted here >>182 I'm doing horror streams this month on the weekends. As promised, I'm posting here to confirm that they're going down tonight and tomorrow. Apologies for the short notice, or if I fucked up the UTC times.

This week we're starting off in the beginnings of horror, with the German Expressionist film movement and the classic Universal Studios films inspired by them:

German Expressionism: 10/9/15

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - 20:00 PST (UTC - 7:00)

15 min break

Nosferatu - 21:30 PST (UTC - 7:00)

15 min break

Vampyr - 23:20 PST (UTC - 7:00)

Classic Universal Horror: 10/10/15

Dracula - 20:00 PST (UTC - 7:00)

15 min break

Frankenstein - 21:40 PST (UTC - 7:00)

15 min break

The Black Cat - 22:05 PST (UTC - 7:00)

Check out this thread for the full schedule, and feel free to post suggestions for movies for the weeks following the next one (I still haven't decided entirely yet on what to stream for the 30th and 31st):

>>>/grim/320

Streams at: http://connectcast.tv/n1x_

You're welcome to stop by.

Hey /nacht/, just wanted to say thanks for the posts and opening for me on the 17th. Best board friends <3

I'm going to be reposting your schedule to the threads that are still up that I have going for my stream. I'll try to stop by for yours as well.

3d153e No.192

>>190

I tried to post to the same threads you did, when they were still alive (which they generally were), so you may not have that much to do. You're still welcome to post the double announcement to all the boards I didn't hit but you did.

3d153e No.194

With less than an hour to start time, the n1x_ channel is off the air. This may not be the best way to hook people. If you want a countdown timer video that runs at the bottom of the screen (so you can use Windows Movie Maker to add captions for the titles of songs), I can easily provide the one I use for this purpose. It's two hours, but if you want less, WMM makes that pretty simple. (Just pick the desired start time and choose "Set start here"). Then throw the right amount of music in, optionally caption each song with artist and title, and there you go. You have a lead-in. You then have something to hold your viewers when they arrive early. I was going to post "it's starting in under an hour, get in here meatbags" to all the boards I posted to before, but I'm not going to do that if you haven't gone live yet.

b52a71 No.195

>>194

Yeah, if you could post that countdown timer it would be very helpful.

3d153e No.196

It's up. We're starting in less than 10 minutes.

Get in here, meatbags.

First, I'll run another Afterparty movie for the next session. While dependent on any delays in the /grim/ program, the 15 minute break should start around 0742 UTC (or 12:42 am Pacific), which puts the movie start at 0757 UTC (or 12:57 am Pacific). This movie will be Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Because hardly anyone showed up for the first warm-up movie this week, I'm only running two this Saturday afternoon. I have a special feature in store for the last (handoff) bumper though!

All times UTC:

• 2200 - Music begins

• 2226 - The Shining (1980)

• 0105 - The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

• 0245 - Souper Spoopy Speshul Feeture!

including 15 minute breaks between all films.

Where:

http://connectcast.tv/Mal-2

When:

Saturday, 2015/10/24 at 2200 UTC (3 pm Pacific, 6 pm Eastern).

Why:

This is just the opening act for >>>/grim/ and their Slasher Films presentation. You are highly encouraged to join them after we're done here.

Filling the chat with MST3K-style riffing and snarking about the films is not only allowed, it is expected.

Official threads at >>>/nacht/184 and >>>/grim/320

This is the >>>/grim/ announced line-up (with 15 minute breaks included):

Streams at: http://connectcast.tv/n1x_

1960/70's Counter Culture: 10/23/15

(no /nacht/ opener, only Afterparty)

Night of The Living Dead - 20:00 PST (03:00)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 21:40 PST (UTC 04:40)

Shivers - 23:15 PST (UTC 06:15)

Slasher Films: 10/24/15

This is the show /nacht/ is opening for.

Halloween - 20:00 PST (03:00)

Friday the 13th - 22:40 PST (UTC 05:40)

Nightmare on Elm Street - 23:30 PST (UTC 06:30)

This is a silent, two-hour countdown timer that leaves most of the screen available for adding your own captions. I hereby release this into the public domain, so do with it as you please.

I fucked up and posted my unhashed tripcode to /b/. Any posts you see with !!Og0mSxxrDg after this are not me. New tripcode established here.

3d153e No.207

Just a reminder, the /grim/ program starts at 8 pm PDT tonight (0300 UTC, Saturday), after which I will run Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

http://connectcast.tv/n1x_

3d153e No.208

>>207

ConnectCast is down for everyone, as in the entire site is completely offline.

Even if it comes back up tonight, I'm canceling the showing of Halloween III: Season of the Witch' because I don't feel like waiting to see what happens. If they're still down when it's time to stream the Saturday afternoon movies (3 PM Pacific, 2200 UTC), then those will be cancelled as well.

3d153e No.209

>>208

If fucking ConnectCast stays stable through tomorrow's entire program (both mine and /grim/'s), then I'll run Halloween III after the whole thing. If there are any further technical problems, then I won't. We already lost 45 minutes due to the problems today.

3d153e No.211

Change of plans!

>>>/grim/ and >>>/nacht/ are trading shows for Saturday. All this does is change the channel you need to load, the movies will be unchanged (times are being corrected).

At 3 pm Pacific (2200 UTC), go to http://connectcast.tv/n1x_ for:

2200 UTC Music starts.

2226 UTC The Shining (1980)

0105 UTC The Rocky Horror Picture Show

0245 UTC Sooper Sekrit Speshul Feeture!

Then at 8 pm Pacific (0300 UTC Sunday), join me at http://connectcast.tv/Mal-2 for:

0300 UTC Halloween

0446 UTC Friday the 13th

0637 UTC A Nightmare on Elm Street

0823 UTC Halloween III: The Season of the Witch

1000 UTC Program Ends

Except for the hand-off section, there are 15 minute intermissions between all films. The Sooper Sekrit Speshul Feeture is the intermission, so if you really need to freshen up between films, you're going to miss it.

Ok I'm a little confused right now.

In 45 minutes, Halloween starts, right?

b39ec3 No.213

Yea, Mal_2 just updated. Ok, I'm on the correct channel.

3d153e No.215

The Shining starts in 23 minutes.

3d153e No.217

>>211

Well that was fun. After Halloween III I got the spur of the moment idea to throw on Emanuelle In America. While this seemed for quite some time to be a gratuitous selection with no /grim/ relation, it took quite a Srpski Film turn toward the end, veering into an investigation of snuff films that I was not at all expecting.

File: 1445872729553.jpg (23.95 KB, 540x284, 135:71, stand.jpg)

I will be running all four 90-minute episodes of the mini-series The Stand, on consecutive nights from Tuesday, October 27 to Friday, October 30. The start time is 6 pm Pacific (0100 UTC, so technically it's Wednesday through Saturday by that clock).

The last episode will complete about 25 minutes before >>>/grim/ Modern Foreign Horror night.

Where:

http://connectcast.tv/Mal-2

When:

Every night from 2015/10/27 to 2015/10/30 at 6 pm Pacific (0100 UTC of the next day).

2015/10/27: Part One

2015/10/28: Part Two

2015/10/28: Part Three

2015/10/30: Part Four

Why:

What better way to ride out the last week of October than a series about the end of the world?

3d153e No.219

>>218

Event cancelled as of Part Two. I was all alone, so it's not like anyone will notice. That means Parts Three and Four are also cancelled.

Check your Cockmail m8.

Also I'm really sorry I wasn't able to show up to the Stand streams ;_;

3d153e No.221

>>220

I sent a response. It sounds like you need me to run a single film ahead of your program to give you time, which I am prepared to do.

3d153e No.222

File: 1446190953942.png (273.42 KB, 640x270, 64:27, Alien-The_Chestburster.png)

Due to a scheduling conflict, n1x_ will be unable to start Modern Foreign Horror until 10:11 pm Pacific, Friday October 30. (That's 0511 UTC, on the morning of Saturday, October 31.) I was intending to run a film after his set, but instead I will run one before his set, at the original 8 pm (0300 UTC) start time.

So here's the new plan:

Start at http://connectcast.tv/Mal-2 at 0300 UTC (8 pm Pacific)

I will show Alien, then as the out-bumper, I will re-run Thriller.

Switch channel to http://connectcast.tv/n1x_ at 0511 UTC (10:11 pm Pacific)

n1x_ will then show the three Modern Foreign Horror films. I don't know what three they are, so I cannot provide you start times for anything but the first one.

3d153e No.223

>>222

This is the backup plan if n1x_ doesn't make it back in time:

• If he's not ready to go by the end of my first bumper, I will run two more movies – Pitch Black and Slither. I cannot say if/when the Modern Foreign Horror presentation will be re-scheduled.

• If he does make it back in time to take over after the first film, the two films named above will be run prior to tomorrow's Modern American Horror presentation.

File: 1446257782397.gif (1.69 MB, 475x268, 475:268, 1445159381571.gif)

Well, it looks like n1x_ will not be in a position to take over, having told me his earliest ready time would be around 10:30 PDT and we'd already be committed to the second movie by then. Therefore we're going to the backup plan, which is:

http://connectcast.tv/Mal-2 throughout

8:00 PDT (0300 UTC) Alien

10:11 PDT (0511 UTC) Pitch Black

12:13 PDT (0713 UTC) Slither

3d153e No.226

>>225

ConnectCast has failed again, just like it did two weeks ago – with SIX MINUTES to go in the first movie. Last time it came back after about 40 minutes so I'll give it up to an hour (assuming anyone stays around).

However, I will probably drop Slither from the schedule and only show two movies because of the delay, assuming we get back on the air at all – and this will be my last stream until/unless I can find a more reliable hosting site. I've fucking had it with ConnectCast.

3d153e No.227

>>226

I hope you had fun. I must now try to find a replacement for ConnectCast, which has become unbelievably shitty lately. It's as if they can't handle the load, so I'll do them the favor of reducing that load.

Permanently.

Unless and until I can find another site that lets me do the same things, I'm retired from streaming. If I decide to just hang it up for good, I will also want to pass this board along to someone who intends to continue streaming. [ᴇᴅɪᴛ: I have given ownership to n1x, though I will remain a board volunteer.]

Here is a list of failures and outages I have personally experienced with ConnectCast.

August 9: Dropped my stream. I did not know to check other streams, nor did I know time sometimes fixes these problems, so I changed stream key and got it working again after about a ten minute delay.

August 16: Chat stopped working, then half an hour later they gave five minutes notice that they were stopping the servers for a software change.

October 23: All streams site-wide went down for about 45 minutes. OBS was unable to connect for that entire time. This was never explained.

October 30: A repeat of the October 23 incident, but preceded by an hour of choppy video that no amount of settings tweaking on my end could alleviate.

October 31 (early am PDT): The entire site is offline and has remained so for about an hour so far.

I don't know what their revenue stream is supposed to be, but if they were hoping to attract a user base that they could then leverage into an ad-supported system or something, they have fucked it up severely enough that they're going to lose that user base, starting with me.

File: 1446333321716.jpg (1.38 MB, 2032x1225, 2032:1225, martyrs.jpg)

Martyrs starting at 4:40 PDT (2340 UTC) on

http://connectcast.tv/n1x_

The program has been re-arranged severely to cram in both American horror and Foreign on the same night.
