>>3151
The character is copyrighted, yes. But fanart is an exception in the legal terms. I don't have the exact terms just laying around, but even if they wanted to stop the fanart, it'd never stop. They're much pickier about people using her for advertising (posters for concerts, album covers, car commercials(yes, really), concerts themselves, public appearances (Letterman), etc.) than they are about people just drawing her. It's a bit of a confusing situation.
017730 No.3157

No, because the anime industry, like it or not, is an industry, and therefore it'd be using another company's intellectual property for their own profit without the copyright holder's permission. Honestly, I'm not sure how doujins weigh into this, so don't ask me.

017730 No.3166

Those are throwbacks to the old days, believe it or not. Crypton used to officially endorse some fanmade products and make them official. If the fandom generally accepted something, Crypton would endorse it. Akita Neru herself is a prime example of this.

If it passes, there'll be nothing the average joe can do. Plus, the entire 'All laws exist for a good reason!' mindset will make it difficult for the average joe to even consider doing anything anyway. As I recall, most folks think laws are there to protect them, whereas a lot of them exist to protect the interests of the rich and affluent.
It's a shame, but I don't see any sort of revolt or 'stepping up' happening even if this does pass.

881664 No.3507

>redo
Well, it's not quite that. I dunno if you guys have this in the US, but when you fail a test, there's a chance to 'recover' the grade by taking a new, different test. It doesn't have to be on the same level, so long as it covers the same things as the original.
And I assume I'm not, I haven't talked to anyone else in my class about this, people who passed the first test were dismissed earlier.
It's three-hundred and ninety-nine posts until the thirty-thousand GET on /two who/.
