So we need to talk about drinking. I dont want to live in a new white paradise where we cant have a mug of ale or mead. So what do we brew and who brews it? who has brew and distilling experience here?

1d52bc No.3880

I had some family who ran moonshine.i could ask around if there's a recipe lying around somewhere

81c6a6 No.3882

There was a story here about some slav dude making a grape farm in Namibia.
I guess wine is a nice choise, I would kinda wish to have a winery and make wine and all that.

home brewing is pretty easy
I have family who do it

initially it wouldn't be a major concern for you guys, it'd be better to buy it locally

That way you can learn what grows there best, local methods worth stealing, etc

Shine should be pretty easy to make. That being said, I'm not sure what we'd have in the line of shit to make it with.

Most of the shine I ever has was corn liquor, but I don't even know if you can grow corn in Namibia. I'm sure there's some kind of fruits that grow there we could make some sort of liquor out of, but I'm more of a beer drinker myself.

I would like a rum as well

I have no idea how to make it though. Perhaps devise a whole new drink out of local Namibian fruit?

My favorite drink to make is apfelwein. Dead simple to make, takes about 6 weeks and it's ready to drink. Only requires apple juice and yeast. If we could establish an apple orchard, drinks can easily be based off that including liquor.

Yeah, but if everyone throws all their money at namibian beer, we'd have none left. A healthy economy has more money coming in than going out.

> tequila beer

Great idea. We could grow agave cactus under coconut and date palms in a permaculture-type wicking bed and ferment and distill the coconut milk, the dates and the agave nectar.

You can make shine out off just about anything that has a good enough sugar level for the yeast to eat, if not you can add it in before adding your yeast

Dates are also really versatile, you can make sugar and syrups from dates that are extremely beneficial compared to sugar.

I wonder what distilled pineapple would be like?

We can grow pineapples as well in permaculture wicking bed systems.

Distillation radically changes the end product.

I never heard about anyone doing that either.

Might be interesting.

I will start experiments asap.

I use a juicer for making cider already.

Maybe I'll throw in some dates and coconut milk into the mash and distill it just to see what happens

if we get a bee farm, which is fucking simple to do, I can make mouth watering mead. Truly it should be from natural fruits and vegetables, but since likely none exist I could use flavor powder like kool aid and I suppose the end result would taste kind of like Four Loko or flavored bum wine. Easy drinking shit. You can also distill it and kick it up to 40 percent, so we would have a nice fruity liquer that gets our rocks off.

c44264 No.4975

Bees are necessary in any kind of permaculture system, which is the most intelligent way to produce agricultural products in such an arid environment.

I'm not sure if it would grow in a place as dry as namibia, but many parts of africa farm cassava and make things from it. It's a starchy root sort of like potatoes, and you can make bread and alcohol from it.

I'm finishing up chemical engineering right now and I homebrew beer when I can. My suggestion is that we focus on ales and not lagers if we were to scale up initially. Why? Temperature control. Lagers are great when you have easy access to refrigeration technology and cheap electricity (thanks based coal), but when you are starting a civilization from scratch, electricity/energy in general will be too expensive to make it worthwhile. I would import/homebrew until we have established good infrastructure to make it cost effective. Essentially >>3886.

As a side note, the way we will develop unless we invade a city is: Primary economy (Ag, lumber, minerals), Secondary (manufacturing, but it would start with infrastructure and machines that directly help primary activities), Tertiary (services)
