Why haven't you moved to Namibia and started farming Ostrich yet?.

They don't destroy the land with grazing and they can live off seeds and insects. I think its a good alternative to resource heavy cattle. What do you guys think?.

1852b9 No.6052

Ostrich meat is also healthier than beed and the eggs are worth a fortune if sold to hippie stores like Whole Foods.

eb996b No.6053

Okay, but how much demand is there for ostrich products?

If a few of us start working on an ostrich farm, will we make a living or just be left with a bunch of ostrich products we can't do shit with?

Did you do any research on this?

Demand does not matter initially. For probably the first few years we will be focused on subsistence. Desert settlements don't just materialize out of thin air every time a white boy makes a wish.

My SA father usually brings back home some gemsbok biltong from Namibia that is sold in south african supermarkets.

Do the namibians also have gemsbok farms? How good are they as cattle?

Ostrich market is over saturated. We have got a lot of suppliers everybody jump on the ostrich game when the meat became popular so if the end goals are profits you are going to have a bad time. If self sustainability is the focus you are going to be better off.

>Gemsbok as cattle

Would not work very well. Its wild game with the meat to input ratio being low. If you plan on farming them as cattle that is. The wild game industry is more profitable at this moment when you breed rare species and sell it to Americans or breeding at crazy prices.

Not profitable enough to make it a commercial enterprise.

>South African Boer seun.

General question would you take part-time volunteers? I don't really want to pack up everything right now and move 16 hours drive away from home but would love volunteering every so often. Not like I am in the postion like most anons 1000's of KM away from home it would cost me about $450-550 to go home and back.

Or is this strictly a all or nothing deal?

SA friend what is your opinion on Kenya?

We should also farm crocks! They're not native, but can still be farmed if you have water
