They had every right to secede from the government.
The south was being used for its raw materials, sent up north to be processed into manufactured goods and resold to them. It was/is much like colonialism only that the two regions weren't separated by a body of water.
That being said I wish the south simply shipped back the blacks to Africa. Imagine how different America would be if we simply deported all blacks after the civil war.

When the US eventually shatters, hopefully they'll get win their second chance. The only issue with the South was its Jewish presence, but I suppose you get that anywhere.

Hitler saw the loss of the Confederacy in the War Between the States as opening the door to the decline of agrarianism, radical egalitarianism, the domination of America by a merchant class, and the settlement of non-Nordic Jews and Slavs in the American North. So there's that.
