>>1771Until true artificial intelligence is developed, there will always be some work to be done by humans, and even at the point of total automation, there will still be a human element. However, that point is far away.
This future, however, is unlikely, given the current state of affairs. More probably, the logistical problems facing large scale automation will be almost insurmountable, as, without transferring to the resource-based economy system, monetary transaction will become near-worthless. As we all know, without money, the system collapses, as the powers rely on it to keep the masses placated. Without materialistic greed or higher purpose, people won't be controllable to the same degree they are now. It's entirely possible that, without the influence of esoteric philosophies (looking at you, NatSoc) the population may end up plugged into VR systems, and so won't need anything physical except basic nutrition, detaching the completely from the physical world - the ultimate control.
Under NatSoc, I'm sure there will be some cause for people to rally around, preventing them from resting on their laurels, developing a taste for paraphilia, or some other form of societal decay. However, this is all just conjecture - no current political system really knows what to do about automation. Only time will tell.
