hello dutch vrienden,
this is my new favorite song.
bbut I am having trouble understanding 'houwtje touwtje'?
google translate says 'houwtje' means 'own' and 'touwje' means 'string'.
together google says 'houwtje touwtje' means 'matchmaking'.
I've asked a few of dutch streamers on twitch to translate for me and one said 'wood string', one said 'little egg' and one said only 'it's a phrase'.
I'm so confus.
St. Geert

I'm very interested in the differences between Flemish Belgium and the Dutch Netherlands. (excluding walloons and such)
What are the main language and cultural differences between the two? I'm talking more pop-cultural than wooden clogs type shit. What kind of things would a person from one country bring up to make fun of (good-naturedly or not) someone from the other country? Are there touchy subjects between the two groups? What would be the main stereotypes that one would believe of the other?
