"Bitmessage is a P2P communications protocol used to send encrypted messages to another person or to many subscribers. It is decentralized and trustless, meaning that you need-not inherently trust any entities like root certificate authorities. It uses strong authentication which means that the sender of a message cannot be spoofed, and it aims to hide "non-content" data, like the sender and receiver of messages, from passive eavesdroppers like those running warrantless wiretapping programs."

What do you think? Is it really as anonymous and secure as they claim? Does it have any future?

I created a chan with the name /netplus/ so that you can try it out: BM-2cX2yLSqZ5yVsN3y9XNr97sHFgTNcqW7WH

Bitmessage is one of the things that i keep meaning to look into properly but never get round to. Seems promising though it looks like it would fragment badly or just not scale at all, or maybe im just to tired right now to understand what they mean.

I subscribed to the chan.

My address is

BM-2cVXPVMLQ5g7Qm2ymxvHX1fkXxM1S5654E

think i will start using it as my primary contact method.

here are some links for people to get started and learn more about it

The have to solve the scaling problem. The split things into streams for now but that is not good enough.

I think for the moment i2p-bote is better even though it is lacking channels.

it's brilliant but i haven't used it yet.

reading content is definitely anonymous because everyone has a full copy of the blockchain, doesn't he?

the closest i got to bm was creating an email address at bitmessage.ch but I'll have a closer look at actual bitmessage when i find the time and when i free some disk space.

how much space does the bm blockchain require?

>how much space does the bm blockchain require?

Not much. My ~/.config/PyBitmessage/ just takes 53MB of disk space.
